Introduction About CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION contains Piracetam which belongs to the group of medicines known as Nootropics. It is used in the management of myoclonus of cortical origin in combination with other anti-myoclonic therapies. Myoclonus is a sudden, involuntary muscle jerk, shake or spasm that may be caused due to disturbance in the brain and nervous system.
Before receiving CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION, inform your doctor if you have severe kidney disease, liver problems, gastrointestinal ulcer, history of cerebral hemorrhage, severe bleeding and are undergoing any major surgery including dental surgery.
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women unless advised by the doctor.
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in children (below 16 years of age). It should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
The common side effects of receiving CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION are abnormal movements, nervousness and weight gain. Inform your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION Works
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is a derivative of the neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which improves membrane stability and fluidity in brain thereby restoring the neurotransmission via glutamatergic and cholinergic (ACh) receptors resulting in controlled movements.
How to use CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION should be only given by a doctor or a nurse. It should be given either intravenously (in the vein) or intramuscularly (in the muscle). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION
Common
- nervousness
- abnormal movements (hyperkinesia)
- weight gain
Uncommon
- depression
- somnolence (excessive sleepiness)
- weakness (asthenia)
How To Manage Side Effects
Weakness:
Drink plenty of fluid and eat balanced diet and frequent meals. Follow regular sleep schedule. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Pregnancy
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
Breastfeeding
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding woman as it is passes through breastmilk. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor before receiving this medicine.
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while receiving CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION.
Kidney
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment. It should be used with caution in patients with renal insufficiency. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
Liver
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in patients having liver impairment. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
Allergy
Do not receive CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION if you are allergic to Piracetam, other pyrrolidone derivatives (such as levetiracetam) or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is not recommended for use if you:
- have huntington’s disease (also known as huntington’s chorea)
- have ever experienced a brain haemorrhage
Before receiving CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION, inform your doctor if you:
- have severe haemorrhage
- gastrointestinal ulcer (due to risk of bleeding)
- underlying disorders of haemostasis (process to manage and stop bleeding)
- history of cerebral hemorrhage
- are undergoing major surgery including dental surgery
Use in pediatrics:
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in children below 16 years of age. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION should be used with caution in elderly patients. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on evaluation of functioning of the kidney. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before receiving CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- thyroid hormones (medicine used to manage hypothyroidism)
- anticoagulants such as aceno-coumarol (medicine used to manage clotting of blood)
- carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbitone, valproate (medicine used to control fits or seizures)
Overdosage:
CEREFLO 200MG INFUSION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms such as bloody diarrhea with abdominal pain.
