Introduction About CEACT 800 TABLET
CEACT 800 TABLET contains Piracetam which belongs to the group of medicines known as Nootropics. It is used in the management of myoclonus of cortical origin in combination with other anti-myoclonic therapies. Myoclonus is a sudden, involuntary muscle jerk, shake or spasm that may be caused due to disturbance in the brain and nervous system.
Before taking CEACT 800 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have severe kidney disease and liver problems. Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with this medicine.
CEACT 800 TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women unless advised by the doctor.
CEACT 800 TABLET is not recommended for use in children (below 16 years of age). It should be taken with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor for advice.
The common side effects of taking CEACT 800 TABLET are restlessness, nervousness and weight gain. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How CEACT 800 TABLET Works
CEACT 800 TABLET is a derivative of the neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which improves membrane stability and fluidity in brain thereby restoring the neurotransmission via glutamatergic and cholinergic (ACh) receptors resulting in controlled movements.
How to use CEACT 800 TABLET
Take CEACT 800 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of CEACT 800 TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Weakness:
Drink plenty of fluid and eat balanced diet and frequent meals. Do regular minimal exercise and follow regular sleep schedule. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Pregnancy
CEACT 800 TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered clearly necessary. Use contraception to avoid becoming pregnant. Consult your doctor before taking CEACT 800 TABLET.

Breastfeeding
CEACT 800 TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding woman unless advised by the doctor as it is passed through the breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience drowsiness and shakiness.

Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking CEACT 800 TABLET.

Kidney
CEACT 800 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney problems. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on functioning of the kidney. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Liver
CEACT 800 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having liver impairment. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Allergy
Do not take CEACT 800 TABLET if you are allergic to Piracetam or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
CEACT 800 TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have huntington’s disease (also known as huntington’s chorea)
- have ever experienced a brain haemorrhage
Before taking CEACT 800 TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have ever had any kind of bleeding problem
Use in pediatrics:
CEACT 800 TABLET is not recommended for use in children (below 16 years of age). Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
CEACT 800 TABLET should be taken with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking CEACT 800 TABLET.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking CEACT 800 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- thyroid extract or thyroxine (medicine used to manage hypothyroidism)
- anticoagulants such as warfarin or aceno-coumarol (medicine used to manage clotting of blood)
- low dose aspirin (medicine used as a pain killer)
- any other medicines including medicines obtained without a prescription
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of CEACT 800 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdose may result in bloody diarrhoea with abdominal pain.
