Introduction About CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION
CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION contains Racecadotril which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiarrheals. It is indicated in the management of acute diarrhoea in children over 3 months of age along with abundant liquid intake and the usual dietary measures.
Acute diarrhea is a sudden onset of three or more loose stools per day, lasting less than 14 days. Symptoms associated with diarrhoea includes abdominal cramps and pain, nausea, vomiting and severely it may cause blood or pus in the stool.
Before giving CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION to your child, inform child’s doctor if your child has kidney or liver disease, fructose intolerance, blood or pus in stools, fever, chronic diarrhoea or diarrhoea induced by antibiotics, prolonged or uncontrolled vomiting and diabetes.
This medicine may cause side effects such as tonsillitis, rash and erythema (skin redness). Consult your child’s doctor if any of the side effects worsens or if your child experiences any unusual effects.

How CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION Works
CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION helps in the management of diarrhoea as it has an antisecretory mechanism. It acts on the naturally occurring substances in our body called endogenous opioids (enkephalins) and manages their degradation which reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes in the intestine without disturbing the movements of the intestines.
How to use CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION
Always give CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION to your child as directed by the physician. Shake well before use. Your child’s doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION for your child depending upon the age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION
Uncommon
- tonsilitis (inflammation of tonsils)
- rash and erythema (skin redness)
Rare
Stop giving CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION to your child and contact doctor immediately if your child experiences any of the following side effects:
- signs of angioedema (swollen face, tongue or pharynx, difficulty to swallow, hives and difficulties while breathing)
- severe skin reactions
How To Manage Side Effects
Skin rash:
Tell your child not to scratch the affected area. Wear protective clothing for your child while going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your child’s skin. Consult your child’s doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Driving and Using Machines
CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION does not affect your child’s ability to ride bicycles or drive other vehicles or operate any tools.
Kidney
CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION should be given with caution to children who have kidney disease. Consult your child’s doctor for advice before administration of CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION to your child.
Liver
CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION should be given with caution to children who have impaired liver function. Consult your child’s doctor for advice before administration of CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION to your child.
Allergy
Do not give CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION to your child if your child is allergic to Racecadotril or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION is not recommended for use if your child has:
- rare hereditary problems such as fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency
Before giving CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION to your child, inform child’s doctor if your child:
- is suffering from chronic diarrhoea or diarrhoea caused by antibiotics
- is suffering from prolonged or uncontrolled vomiting
- is suffering from diabetes
- has intolerance to sucrose
- has blood or pus in your stools and fever
Use in paediatrics:
CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION should be given to children above 3 months of age. Your child’s doctor may adjust the dose based on child’s body weight. Consult your child’s doctor for advice before administration of CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION.
Use in geriatrics:
CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION is intended for use in children only.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before giving CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION to your child, inform child’s doctor if your child is taking any of the following medicines:
- angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors such as captopril, enalapril, lisinopril, perindopril, ramipril (used to manage high blood pressure)
Overdosage:
If your child or anyone else accidentally takes too much of CADO CHERRY FLAVOUR SUSPENSION, consult your child’s doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
