    Introduction About C PIME 250MG INJECTION

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION contains Cefepime which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, genital tract, skin and soft tissues, stomach, biliary tract, blood and the brain in children aged 2 months or older. It can also be used in combination with other antibiotics to manage fever among children who have low white blood cells in the body.

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION should be under careful medical supervision. Therapy with C PIME 250MG INJECTION should be continued for the stipulated duration as instructed by your doctor to achieve better results. Failing to complete the full course of the therapy or skipping doses in between the therapy may not result in adequate infection control.

    Before receiving C PIME 250MG INJECTION inform your doctor if your child has a history of asthma or allergic conditions (such as hay fever). You must also inform your doctor if your child has any kidney problems as a precaution.

    The most common side effects of receiving C PIME 250MG INJECTION are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, anemia, pain and swelling at the site of injection, fungal infection in the mouth and stomach pain. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens in your child.

    Uses Of C PIME 250MG INJECTION

    It is used in children (aged 2 months or older) to manage the following bacterial infections:

    • respiratory tract infections (Ex. pneumonia, chronic bronchitis)
    • urinary tract infections (such as cystitis and pyelonephritis)
    • stomach and biliary tract infections (such as peritonitis, cholecystitis)
    • skin and soft tissue infections (such as abscesses, furunculosis, impetigo, erysipelas, pyoderma, lymphadenitis)
    • genital tract infections (Ex. gonorrhoea)
    • blood infections (Ex. sepsis)
    • bacterial meningitis (inflammation of the protective layer surrounding the brain)
    • fever

    How C PIME 250MG INJECTION Works

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION is a powerful antibiotic with bacteriostatic properties. It kills the susceptible bacteria by blocking the bacterial cell wall synthesis. Unlike other cephalosporins, it can also remain unaffected by the toxic proteins produced by the bacteria (such as beta lactamases). As a result, it destroys the susceptible bacteria, manages their further growth and multiplication and reduces the severity of the infection.

    How to use C PIME 250MG INJECTION

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION will be administer to your child only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously) or into the muscle (intramuscularly).

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for your child depending upon their age, body weight and severity of the infection.

    Side Effects Of C PIME 250MG INJECTION

    Common

    • injection site reactions (pain, inflammation and swelling)
    • skin rash
    • diarrhoea
    • anemia
    • delay in blood clotting time
    • positive coombs test (a blood test)
    • increased liver enzymes
    • increase in WBC in blood

    Uncommon

    • nausea, vomiting
    • headache. fever
    • vaginal infections
    • fungal infection in mouth with white lesions
    • colitis (inflammation of large intestine)
    • increase in blood urea levels
    • increase in serum creatinine levels

    Rare

    • convulsions
    • tingling sensation
    • taste changes
    • dizziness, shortness of breath
    • stomach pain, constipation

    Stop receiving C PIME 250MG INJECTION and contact your doctor if you notice any of the following symptoms:

    • signs of severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
    • severe skin reactions (such as widespread skin rash, blistering, peeling or bleeding on any part of the skin with fever, chills, enlarged lymph nodes and malaise or pink or reddish skin lesions on palms or soles)
    • severe uncontrollable watery diarrhoea, feeling weak and fever

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or vomiting:

    Make sure that your child takes simple meal. Avoid giving them oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens in your child.

    Diarrhoea:

    Make sure that your child drinks plenty to fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep themselves hydrated. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. Do not self-manage diarrhea on your own. Consult your doctor if your child experience severe diarrhea with blood stains.

    Injection site reactions:

    Place an ice pack at the site of injection. Do not let your child move the affected area. Consult your doctor if the symptom worsens.

    Warning & Precautions

    Driving and Using Machines

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION may make your child feel dizzy. Therefore, do not let your child to ride bicycle on their own or play with heavy objects. Keep them away from playing outdoors as well.

    Kidney

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children with kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before administering it.

    Allergy

    Talk to your doctor before administering C PIME 250MG INJECTION if your child is allergic to cefepime or to any other beta-lactam antibiotics (Ex. amoxicillin).

    Lungs

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children with a history of asthma. Therefore, consult your doctor before administering it.

    Others

    Before administering C PIME 250MG INJECTION inform your doctor if your child:

    • has a history of allergic conditions (such as hay fever or nettle rashes)
    • is going to have any blood tests or urine tests

    Use in paediatrics:

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION can be used in children (aged 2 months or above) if prescribed by the physician. It is not recommended for use in children aged less than 2 months. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice.

    Interactions

    A. Drug–Drug interactions:

    Before administering C PIME 250MG INJECTION to your child, inform your doctor if your child is taking any of the following medicines such as:

    • aminoglycoside antibiotics (used to manage bacterial infections) Ex. gentamycin, streptomycin
    • diuretics (used to reduce edema and blood pressure) Ex. spironolactone, amiloride, frusemide
    • medicines used to manage blood clotting (Ex. warfarin)

    Overdosage:

    C PIME 250MG INJECTION will be administered to your child only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if your child experiences any unusual side effects.
