    Introduction About BRONCORDIL P ELIXIR

BRONCORDIL P ELIXIR is a combination of Salbutamol and Theophylline which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-asthmatic drugs. It is used in children (aged below 6 years) to manage asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It can also be used to manage chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchus), bronchospasm (narrowing of airways), emphysema (shortness of breath) and sometimes even heart failure.

Asthma is a long-term respiratory disease in which the airways become inflamed, swollen and narrowed. It also causes excessive mucous secretion in the airways which makes it difficult for the air to pass through, leading to unpleasant symptoms like wheezing, difficulty in breathing, chest pain and/or cough.

COPD is a lung disease characterized by chronic lung inflammation and obstructed airflow within the airways. It causes wheezing, breathing difficulties, cough with mucus production and chest pain.

Talk to your doctor before administering this medicine to your child, if your child has any problems in their heart, lungs, liver or kidney. You must also inform your doctor if your child has thyroid problems, stomach problems, fits or any viral infection as a precaution.

The most common side effects of taking BRONCORDIL P ELIXIR are nausea, vomiting, headache, tremors, diarrhoea, dizziness and muscle cramps. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects worsens in your child.

    Uses Of BRONCORDIL P ELIXIR

It is used in children (aged below 6 years) to manage and prevent:

    • Asthma
    • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
    • Chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchus)
    • Bronchospasm and emphysema (shortness of breath)
    • Heart failure

    How BRONCORDIL P ELIXIR Works

BRONCORDIL P ELIXIR is a bronchodilator. It relaxes the smooth muscles of the airways and widens them. It also blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the airways (such as mast cells) that cause inflammation and swelling. As a result, it reduces airway inflammation, manages the airways from becoming narrow and allows the air to pass through more freely which makes breathing easier.

How to use BRONCORDIL P ELIXIR

Administer BRONCORDIL P ELIXIR to your child as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Measure the required quantity of the medicine in a measuring cup and administer it to your child.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
