Introduction About BRICANYL SYRUP
BRICANYL SYRUP contains Terbutaline which belongs to the group of medicines called bronchodilators. It is used in the management of asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) along with certain inhaled medicines. In the conditions like asthma and COPD, the airways become inflamed and swollen making it difficult to breathe.
Before taking BRICANYL SYRUP, inform your doctor if you have heart or thyroid problems or diabetes. BRICANYL SYRUP should be used with caution during pregnancy (especially in the end) and during breastfeeding.
Your doctor will prescribe the right dose of BRICANYL SYRUP for your child depending on their age, body weight and health condition. The most common side effects of taking BRICANYL SYRUP are trembling or shaking, headache, pounding or rapid heartbeats, cramps, feeling tense, etc. Consult your doctor immediately if you feel any of the symptoms getting worse.

How BRICANYL SYRUP Works
BRICANYL SYRUP eases breathing and reduces discomfort by acting on certain receptors and opening up the air passages by widening and relaxing the muscles.
How to use BRICANYL SYRUP
Take BRICANYL SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking BRICANYL SYRUP unless your doctor advises you to stop.
Side Effects Of BRICANYL SYRUP
Common
- trembling or shaking
- headache
- pounding or fast heartbeat
- cramps or feeling tense
- low blood potassium levels (muscle weakness, thirst or altered nerve sensation)
Rare
Stop taking BRICANYL SYRUP and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reactions (a swollen face, skin rash, breathing problems, low blood pressure)
- sudden wheezing soon after taking the medicine
- breathing getting worse, chest tightness
- waking up at night with asthma
How To Manage Side Effects
Headache:
Try to rest and relax. Apply pain balm on head to ease off the pain. If there is no improvement in the symptom, contact your doctor.
Warning & Precautions
Pregnancy
BRICANYL SYRUP should be used with caution in pregnant women, especially at the end of pregnancy since it relaxes the womb. Consult your doctor for advice.
Breastfeeding
BRICANYL SYRUP should be used with caution in breast feeding women. Consult your doctor for advice.
Driving and Using Machines
BRICANYL SYRUP does not affect the ability to drive or operate any heavy machines.
Allergy
Do not take BRICANYL SYRUP if you are allergic to Terbutaline Sulphate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease
BRICANYL SYRUP should be taken with caution in patients with a history of heart disease, irregular heart rhythm or angina (chest pain). Consult your doctor for advice.
Others
Before taking BRICANYL SYRUP, inform your doctor if you:
- have diabetes
- have an overactive thyroid gland
- have intolerance to some sugars
- are going to have any surgery

Your doctor will prescribe the right dose of BRICANYL SYRUP for your child depending on their age, body weight and health condition.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before taking BRICANYL SYRUP, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to reduce inflammation (Ex. prednisolone, dexamethasone)
- theophylline or aminophylline (used to manage bronchospasm due to asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis)
- medicines used to reduce blood pressure (Ex. atenolol or propranolol)
- timolol (used to manage glaucoma)
- medicines used to remove excess water (Ex. frusemide, chlorothiazide, chlorthalidone)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of BRICANYL SYRUP, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

Can I use more of BRICANYL SYRUP if I don’t feel better?
Do not increase the dose or frequency of BRICANYL SYRUP without consulting your doctor. If you find that management with BRICANYL SYRUP becomes less effective for symptomatic relief, your symptoms become worse or you need to use it more frequently than usual, you should seek medical attention at once.
What if I miss a dose of BRICANYL SYRUP?
If you miss a dose of BRICANYL SYRUP, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip that dose if it's almost time for the next one. Do not take BRICANYL SYRUP two times to make up for the missed dose.
Can I stop taking BRICANYL SYRUP if I feel better?
Continue taking BRICANYL SYRUP until your doctor tells you to stop, unless you experience any unwanted effects, worsening of your condition or any new symptoms. Contact your doctor in such case.
Can BRICANYL SYRUP be taken in pregnancy?
BRICANYL SYRUP should be used with caution in pregnant women, especially at the end of pregnancy since it relaxes the womb. If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning for a baby, consult your doctor before taking it.
Can I take other medicines with BRICANYL SYRUP?
