Introduction About BRICANYL 5MG TABLET
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET contains Terbutaline which belongs to the group of medicines called Bronchodilators. BRICANYL 5MG TABLET is used to manage and reverse bronchospasm in patients 12 years and older with asthma and reversible bronchospasm (constricted airways) associated with bronchitis and emphysema.
In the conditions like asthma, bronchitis and emphysema, the airways become inflamed and swollen making it difficult to breathe.
Before taking BRICANYL 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have heart or thyroid problems, fits or diabetes. BRICANYL 5MG TABLET should be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the baby.
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. The most common side effects of taking BRICANYL 5MG TABLET are pounding heartbeat, chest pain, rapid heart rate, shakiness or nervousness. Consult your doctor immediately if you feel any of the symptoms getting worse.

How BRICANYL 5MG TABLET Works
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET eases breathing and reduces discomfort by acting on certain receptors and opening up the air passages by widening and relaxing the muscles.
How to use BRICANYL 5MG TABLET
Take BRICANYL 5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow with a glass of water and do not chew or crush it. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking BRICANYL 5MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop.

- pounding heartbeat, chest pain, rapid heart rate
- shakiness or nervousness

- anxiety
- dilated blood vessels
- sweating
Rare
- fits
- elevation in liver enzymes
- allergic skin reaction
Stop taking BRICANYL 5MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reactions (a swollen face, skin rash, breathing problems, low blood pressure)
- sudden wheezing soon after taking the medicine
- breathing getting worse, chest tightness
- waking up at night with asthma

Pregnancy
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the baby. BRICANYL 5MG TABLET should not be used for acute or maintenance tocolysis (a procedure carried out with the use of medicines to delay the delivery of a baby in women presenting preterm contractions). Consult your doctor for advice.
Breastfeeding
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET should be used during breastfeeding only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the baby. Consult your doctor for advice.
Driving and Using Machines
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET does not influence the capacity of driving or operating any machines.
Allergy
Do not take BRICANYL 5MG TABLET if you are allergic to Terbutaline or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases like ischemic heart disease, high blood pressure and irregular heartbeat. Consult your doctor for advice.
Others
Before taking BRICANYL 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have diabetes
- have an overactive thyroid gland
- have convulsive disorders (fits)
Use in Paediatrics:
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before taking BRICANYL 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- certain medicines used for depression (Ex. selegiline, amitriptyline)
- medicines used for high blood pressure (Ex. metoprolol, timolol, atenolol, furosemide, chlorthalidone)
- medicines used for inflammatory conditions (Ex. hydrocortisone, prednisolone)
- medicines used for obstructive breathing problems (Ex. theophylline, aminophylline)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of BRICANYL 5MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include fits, chest pain, low or high blood pressure, irregular or pounding heartbeat, nervousness, headache, shakiness, dry mouth, nausea, dizziness, tiredness, weakness and sleeplessness.

Can I use more of BRICANYL 5MG TABLET if I don’t feel better?
Do not increase the dose or frequency of BRICANYL 5MG TABLET without consulting your doctor. If you find that management with BRICANYL 5MG TABLET becomes less effective for symptomatic relief, your symptoms become worse or you need to use it more frequently than usual, you should seek medical attention at once.
What if I miss a dose of BRICANYL 5MG TABLET?
If you miss a dose of BRICANYL 5MG TABLET, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip that dose if it's almost time for the next one. Do not take BRICANYL 5MG TABLET two times to make up for the missed dose.
Can I stop taking BRICANYL 5MG TABLET if I feel better?
Continue taking BRICANYL 5MG TABLET until your doctor tells you to stop, unless you experience any unwanted effects, worsening of your condition or any new symptoms. Contact your doctor in such case.
Can BRICANYL 5MG TABLET be taken in pregnancy?
BRICANYL 5MG TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the baby.
