Introduction About BETAONE OINTMENT

BETAONE OINTMENT contains Beclomethasone which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is used to reduce the redness and itchiness associated with certain skin problems, such as psoriasis and eczema (atopic dermatitis).

Psoriasis is a skin condition that is characterized by itchy skin rashes, commonly occurring on the trunk, knees, elbows and scalp. Atopic dermatitis (Eczema) is an allergic skin condition that makes your skin itchy, red, dry and irritated. It is characterized by small, raised bumps on the skin with pus accompanied by severe skin itching, redness and inflammation.

Apply a thin layer of BETAONE OINTMENT on the affected skin areas. Avoid contact of BETAONE OINTMENT with your eyes, mouth, ears, nose or with open wounds. If you wish to cover the affected skin with a dressing (plaster or bandage), wait for at least 10 minutes after applying BETAONE OINTMENT.

Before using BETAONE OINTMENT inform your doctor if you have any skin infections or inflammation (such as skin ulcers, spotty red rash around the mouth). You must also inform your doctor if you have acne, rosacea (redness of skin) or itching of your anus (back passage) or genital areas as a precaution. Consult your doctor before using BETAONE OINTMENT if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The most common side effects of applying BETAONE OINTMENT are pain, irritation and burning sensation at the site of application. Consult your doctor if this side effect trouble you.

Uses Of BETAONE OINTMENT

It is used to manage skin redness, inflammation and itching associated with:

  • Eczema (atopic dermatitis)
  • Psoriasis (dry scaly patches on the skin)

How BETAONE OINTMENT Works

BETAONE OINTMENT is a steroid medication. It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers that cause allergic reaction and inflammation (redness and swelling) on the skin. As a result, it reduces skin dryness, redness, itching and inflammation associated with psoriasis and eczema.

How to use BETAONE OINTMENT

Apply a small amount of BETAONE OINTMENT into the affected skin areas or directed by the physician. It is for topical use only. Wash your hands before and after application.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition. Do not stop using or overuse BETAONE OINTMENT without consulting your doctor.

Avoid contact of BETAONE OINTMENT with your eyes, mouth, ears, nose or with open wounds. If you wish to cover the affected skin with a dressing (plaster or bandage), wait for at least 10 minutes after applying BETAONE OINTMENT.

How To Manage Side Effects

Application Site Reactions:

Place an icepack on the affected skin areas to ease the irritation. Avoid using harsh chemicals or soaps on the affected areas. Wear protective loose-fitting clothes while going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Avoid exposing your skin towards direct sunlight. If the condition did not improve, contact your doctor.

  • have acne
  • have severe redness and warmth of skin (rosacea)
  • have perioral dermatitis (spotty red rash around the mouth)
  • have itching of your anus (back passage) or genital areas
  • have viral infections (such as cold sores, chicken pox or herpes)
  • have fungal infections (such as ringworm, thrush, athlete’s foot)
  • have skin blisters or sores caused due to any infections
  • have varicose ulcers (inflammation of veins)
  • have stasis ulcers (ulcers caused due to reduced blood flow)

Use in paediatrics:

BETAONE OINTMENT should be used in children and adolescents (aged 1 year or older) only if prescribed by the physician. It is not recommended for use in children aged below 1 year. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.

Use in geriatrics:

BETAONE OINTMENT should be used with caution in the elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.
