    Introduction About BENZONIX XL GEL WASH

    BENZONIX GEL Wash is used in the management of acne. It is used on the face, chest, or back where the skin has a lot of blackheads, spots, and pimples. It contains Benzoyl peroxide, which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-bacterial and Anti-inflammatory agents that attack the bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes, one of the main causes of acne.

    BENZONIX GEL Wash is not recommended for severe acne and/or on the skin with deeper pits and dents, broken and/or damaged skin, or for people who are allergic to benzoyl peroxide and/or any other ingredient found in BENZONIX GEL Wash.

    It is not recommended for use by pregnant and breastfeeding women unless necessary. Consult your doctor before using BENZONIX GEL Wash.

    It is recommended to use only those products that are labelled as non-comedogenic to prevent clogging of pores.

    Avoid applying BENZONIX GEL Wash around your eyes, including eyelids and other mucous membranes. Also, care must be taken not to apply BENZONIX GEL Wash to broken or damaged skin or to skin with dents or scars.

    The most common side effects of using BENZONIX GEL Wash are skin tension, burning, stinging, itching, peeling, and reddening of the skin. Consult your doctor if any of the above reactions bother you.

    BENZONIX GEL Wash works against acne-causing bacteria. This medicine, after being applied to the affected skin, gets absorbed and is converted to benzoic acid. This benzoic acid gets metabolized by skin proteins and releases active free-radical oxygen species that result in the alteration of bacterial proteins. This helps to manage acne or pimples. BENZONIX GEL Wash also acts as a keratolytic agent, which promotes peeling of the skin and absorbs excess oil from the skin, further preventing acne formation and skin irritation.

    How to use BENZONIX XL GEL WASH

    Always use BENZONIX GEL Wash as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you, depending on your disease condition.

    Wet the area to be managed. Wash hands before use and place a small amount of BENZONIX GEL Wash your hands to wash the affected area. Wash and rinse thoroughly with water after application.

    Side Effects Of BENZONIX XL GEL WASH

    Common

    • Dryness, redness, and peeling of the skin
    • Burning sensation of skin
    • Itching of the skin (pruritis)
    • Stinging and/or pain on the skin
    • Skin irritation when in contact with foreign objects (irritant contact dermatitis)

    Rare

    Stop using BENZONIX GEL Wash and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following:

    • Swelling of the skin
    • Development of blisters on the skin (blistering)
    • Severe allergic reactions to the skin, such as the development of hives (raises and itchy rash), swelling of the face, throat, lips, mouth, and tongue, leading to difficulty breathing
    • Fainting

    Keep the affected area clean and dry and avoid scratching to prevent further irritation or infection. Apply calamine lotion to help reduce itching and inflammation.
