    Introduction About BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET

    BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET is a combination of Benidipine and Chlorthalidone which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive agents. It is used in the management of hypertension.

    Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a common condition in which the long-term force of the blood against artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause heart disease. Symptoms include headaches, shortness of breath or nosebleeds (if condition is severe).

    Along with this management your doctor might want you to make certain lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy diet, quitting smoking and alcohol, regular exercise and reducing your weight.

    Prior to the management your doctor might take certain blood tests to understand your existing condition.

    BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with low blood pressure. Before taking BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease.

    BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET works by lowering the blood pressure. Benidipine relaxes blood vessels and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Chlorthalidone reduces the amount of water in the body by increasing the flow of urine, which helps to lower blood pressure.

    How to use BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET

    Take BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET

    Common

    • glucose intolerance
    • sleepiness
    • ankle swelling
    • headache
    • flushing (sense of warmth)
    • tiredness
    • palpitations
    • nausea
    • increased blood uric acid
    • decreased potassium level in blood
    • altered blood lipid level

    Rare

    Stop taking and contact your doctor immediately if you experience:

    • excess thirst, tiredness, drowsiness, restlessness, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting or increased heart rate
    • light-headedness or dizziness

    Nausea:

    Stick to simple meals, avoid oily or spicy food. Consult your doctor if the symptoms does not improve.

    Headache:

    Avoid bright lights, take enough rest, and drink lots of water. Consult your doctor if the symptoms does not improve.

    Alcohol

    Kidney

    BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose will be adjusted by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Liver

    Allergy

    Do not take BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET if you are allergic to Benidipine or Chlorthalidone or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

    • low blood pressure

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • benazepril, metoprolol, ramipril, hydrochlorothiazide
    • anti-TB (rifampin)
    • itraconazole (used to manage fungal infection)
    • cardiac glycoside (digoxin)
    • H2 blockers (cimetidine)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of BENIPACK CT 4/12.5MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are nausea, weakness, dizziness, and electrolyte imbalance.
