    Description

The Becton Dickinson BD Venflon I.V. Cannula is a peripheral intravenous catheter designed for administering fluids or medications directly into the bloodstream. The 16G size is suited for situations requiring high flow rates, such as rapid fluid replacement or blood transfusions. Its design incorporates features for both patient comfort and clinician safety. The catheter material is designed to reduce vein trauma, and an integrated port allows for medication administration without needing another needle stick.

Integrated Injection Port: Allows for the administration of medications during infusion without the use of an additional needle. Back-Cut Needle Bevel: The design of the needle and the tapered end of the catheter are intended to allow for easier insertion and minimize the risk of vein damage. Flexible Wings: These help to stabilize the cannula once it is in the vein and provide a point for securement. Biocompatible Catheter Material: The cannula is made from PTFE, a material that helps reduce trauma to the vein. Ergonomic Design: The grip is constructed to accommodate various insertion techniques by healthcare professionals.

Q: What is the primary use of a 16G cannula?

A: A 16G IV cannula is typically used for administering intravenous fluids, medications, or blood products, and for regular blood sampling. Its larger size is suitable for rapid infusions required in settings like major surgery or trauma care.

Q: What material is the BD Venflon cannula made from?

A: This cannula is made from BD Vialon™ biomaterial, which is designed to soften inside the vein, potentially reducing the risk of complications like phlebitis.

Q: Does this cannula have an injection port?

A: Yes, the BD Venflon features an integrated injection port with a snap cap, allowing for the administration of medication without needing a separate needle stick.

Q: Is this product intended for self-use?

A: No, this is a medical device intended for single use by qualified healthcare professionals in a clinical setting. Proper training is necessary for its insertion and management.

Q: Are there features to enhance insertion success?

A: Some versions of the BD Venflon Pro may include BD Instaflash™ Needle Technology, which has a notched needle designed to provide visual confirmation of vessel entry to improve first-attempt success.
