Description
The Bao Health One Piece Open Ostomy Bag is a drainable pouch designed for adults. It features a convex shape which applies gentle pressure to help the stoma protrude, potentially reducing leakage. This system is constructed with a hydrocolloid adhesive that is formulated to be gentle on the skin. The integrated filter is designed to neutralize odor and release gas, preventing the pouch from ballooning. The one-piece design simplifies application and use.
Convex Barrier: The curved, dome-shaped skin barrier is designed for individuals with flush or retracted stomas to help prevent output leakage.
Integrated Filter: Features an active carbon filter that helps to neutralize odors and allows for gas release.
Hydrocolloid Adhesive: Utilizes a skin-friendly Cureguard hydrocolloid adhesive that is thin and elastic, allowing it to conform to body contours and movements.
One-Piece System: The pouch and skin barrier are a single unit, making it straightforward to apply.
Velcro Closure: An integrated Hook-Loop closure provides a secure seal at the bottom of the drainable pouch.
Q: What is a one-piece convex ostomy bag?
A: A one-piece ostomy system integrates the skin barrier and the pouch into a single unit. The convex shape refers to the inward curve of the skin barrier, which applies gentle pressure around the stoma to help it protrude, aiming for a more secure fit and to direct output into the pouch.
Q: How does the integrated filter in the ostomy bag function?
A: The filter is designed to allow gas to be released from the pouch while neutralizing odor. This helps prevent the bag from inflating with gas, a condition known as ballooning.
Q: What is the purpose of the open, drainable design?
A: The open-end or drainable design, often with a hook-loop or velcro closure, allows the user to empty the contents of the bag without removing the entire system. This is particularly suitable for individuals with a colostomy or ileostomy.
Q: Who might find a convex ostomy bag beneficial?
A: Individuals with a stoma that is flush with the skin, retracted below the skin level, or located in an area with skin folds may find a convex bag helpful. The convex shape helps to create a better seal and reduce the chance of leakage. It is always recommended to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if a convex system is appropriate for your specific needs.

Safety Information/Precaution
It is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or an ostomy care nurse to determine if a convex pouching system is appropriate for your specific needs, especially in the immediate postoperative period. The selection of the correct type of convexity (soft or firm) should be based on your stoma and body shape. Ensure the opening of the convex skin barrier is close to the stoma to help it protrude correctly. If you experience any skin irritation, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider. Always read the product label and instructions carefully before use.
