Description
The B Braun Intrafix Safe Set (P) is an intravenous administration set designed for delivering fluids and medications. It is intended for both gravity-fed infusions and pressure infusions with compatible pumps. The set incorporates features to enhance safety and workflow efficiency for healthcare providers. Its construction with DEHP-free materials makes it a considered option for infusion therapy across various patient demographics, including adults, children, and neonates.
AirStop Filter: An integrated filter membrane in the drip chamber prevents air from entering the infusion line if the fluid container empties, which helps avert air embolism.
PrimeStop Cap: A special protective cap with a hydrophobic membrane facilitates automatic, leak-free priming of the tube, keeping the system closed and sterile until it is connected to the patient.
15 Micron Filter: The set includes a fluid filter with a 15 µm pore size that is designed to retain particulate matter from the infusion solution.
DEHP-Free Tubing: The tubing is manufactured without the plasticizer DEHP, addressing safety considerations for patients during infusion therapy.
Secure Luer Lock Connector: Features a screw-tight Luer-lock fitting that ensures a firm and secure connection to the patient's venous access device, minimizing the risk of accidental disconnection.
Q: What is the B Braun Intrafix Safe Set primarily used for?
A: The Intrafix Safe Set is a universal IV administration set designed for giving intravenous fluids and medications by gravity or with compatible infusion pumps. It is intended for use by healthcare professionals in clinical settings.
Q: What are the 'AirStop' and 'PrimeStop' features?
A: The 'AirStop' feature is a filter membrane in the drip chamber that helps to prevent air from entering the infusion line when the fluid container is empty. The 'PrimeStop' cap automates priming, prevents fluid leakage, and maintains a closed system until it is connected to the patient, which helps avoid contamination.
Q: Is this IV set free from DEHP and Latex?
A: Yes, the product is specified as being free from both DEHP and Latex, making it suitable for a wider range of patients. Some versions are also available as PVC-free.
Q: Can this set be used for both adults and children?
A: Yes, the Intrafix SafeSet is suitable for use with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients for whom infusion therapy is prescribed. However, a healthcare professional should always make the final determination.
Q: How does the roller clamp contribute to the infusion process?
A: The roller clamp is designed for comfortable handling and allows for accurate and easy adjustment of the infusion flow rate.
