    Introduction About AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT

AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT is used to manage bacterial conjunctivitis (bacterial infection that affects the mucous membrane of the eye) caused by susceptible microorganisms such as Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mitis group, and Streptococcus pneumonia in affected individuals.

It contains a medicine called Azithromycin, which belongs to a group of medicines called macrolide antibiotics that works by preventing the growth of bacteria and helps clear up the infection.

AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT is not recommended for use if you are allergic to azithromycin. It should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if it is clearly necessary. It is also advised to be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 1 to 18 years) after consulting the doctor.

The most common side effects of using AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT are eye irritation and conjunctival hyperaemia (acute inflammation of the eye). Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

    How AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT Works

AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis (essential for the bacteria's growth), which results in its destruction, thus managing its growth and spread of infection and providing relief from bacterial conjunctivitis in affected individuals.

How to use AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT

    • Always use AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT as directed by your physician.
    • It is for topical ophthalmic use.
    • Wash and dry your hands before applying the medicine.
    • Remove the cap and tilt your head slightly backwards.
    • Gently pull down your lower eyelid to form a pocket and squeeze the medicine in a sweeping motion inside the pocket of your lower eyelid. Avoid touching the tip with your eye/eyelid.
    • Gently blink your eyes to have the medicine spread inside the eye, and keep your eyes closed for 1 to 2 minutes.
    • Wipe away excess medicine from your eyelids and eyelashes and recap the tip.
    • Your doctor will determine the correct dose and duration for you based upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.
