Introduction About ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE

ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE is a combination of Isoniazid and Rifampicin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antitubercular agents. It is used to manage tuberculosis and bacterial infection of membranes covering the brain, and spinal cord. It is also used to manage contagious disease of skin, nerves, mucous membrane, and other conditions in affected individuals.

ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Isoniazid, and/or Rifampicin. Before taking ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you are scheduled for any upcoming surgery, and/or suffering from pre-existing diseases, liver problems (such as cirrhosis of liver)/kidney problems (such as renal insufficiency).

ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy. It is also advised to be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it may pass through breast milk.

ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65years and above) after consulting the doctor. 

The most common side effects of taking ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE are hypersensitivity reaction (associated with signs such as skin rash, red itchy welt, and/or shortness of breath), loss of vision/hearing, flu-like syndrome, and/or arthralgia (joint stiffness). Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

How ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE Works

ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE manages tuberculosis infection, where Rifampicin works by inactivating bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) resulting in its destruction and Isoniazid works by managing the bacteria to form its own protective covering leading to its death thus managing tuberculosis in affected individuals.

How to use ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE

Tablet, Capsule:

Take ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of the medicine depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Side Effects Of ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE

Common

  • signs of hypersensitivity (immune & inflammatory response) reactions such as skin rash, red itchy welt, shortness of breath, and/or wheezing
  • loss of vision/hearing
  • flu-like syndrome
  • haemolytic anaemia (blood disorder)
  • arthralgia (joint stiffness)

Rare

Stop taking ANTICOX II 450/300MG CAPSULE and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • signs of severe thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) such as excessive bruising, prolonged bleeding (from cuts), bleeding from gums, and/or blood in urine/stools
