Introduction About ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET

ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET is used in the management of hypertension (high blood pressure), angina, irregular heart rhythm and long-term heart failure.

You can take ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET at any time of the day, with or without food, but it is important to take it consistently at the same time each day. Continue using the medicine for the duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it on your own, even if you feel fine, as high blood pressure often shows no symptoms, and discontinuing it may worsen your condition. To enhance the effectiveness of the medication, follow your doctor’s advice and adopt healthy lifestyle habits such as regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and eating a balanced diet.

Avoid taking grapefruit or its juice while taking ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET as it may increase the blood pressure-lowering effect of this medicine.

Before starting this medication, inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney conditions. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine. Also, let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking, especially those used for blood pressure or heart-related issues, to avoid potential interactions.

Common side effects of this medicine include headache, swelling in the ankles, skin rash, slow heart rate, nausea, and depression. How ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET Works

ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET helps to reduce high blood pressure, where amlodipine works by inhibiting the movement of calcium ions into both vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle resulting in lower blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels and improving the flow of blood to the heart muscles. Metoprolol works by reducing the force of contraction of the heart muscles by blocking the effects of certain hormones called adrenaline and making the heart beat more easily thus lowering the blood pressure.

How to use ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET

• Take ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.
• You can take ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET with or without food, but it’s important to take it at the same time each day to help maintain consistent levels of the medication in your body.
• Follow your doctor’s guidance regarding the appropriate dose and duration based on your condition.
• Do not miss doses or discontinue the medication without consulting your doctor, even if you feel fine, as stopping suddenly can cause your blood pressure to spike.
• Regularly check your blood pressure to make sure the medication is working as intended.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.

Side Effects Of ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET

Like all medicines, ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET may cause certain side effects in some individuals, although not everybody gets them

Most Common Side Effects of ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET are:

• Swelling of ankles, hands and feet
• headache, dizziness
• slow heart rate
• feeling faint on standing due to low blood pressure
• stomach upset
• muscle cramps
• mood changes, anxiety, sleeplessness, depression
• numbness or tingling sensation in your limbs, loss of pain sensation
• low blood pressure
• increased need to urinate at night
• inability to obtain an erection, discomfort or enlargement of the breasts in men
• joint or muscle pain, back pain
• weight increase or decrease

Stop taking ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

• allergic reaction (such as itching, difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue)
• wheeziness, chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
• severe skin reactions including intense skin rash, hives, reddening of the skin over the whole body, severe itching, blistering, peeling and swelling of the skin, inflammation of mucous membranes (stevens johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis) or other allergic reaction
• abnormal heartbeat, heart attack
• inflamed pancreas which may cause severe abdominal and back pain accompanied with feeling very unwell

How To Manage Side Effects

Dizziness Or Drowsiness

1. Sit or Lie Down: If you feel dizzy, sit down or lie down immediately to prevent falling. Keep your head still and close your eyes if needed.
2. Hydrate: Dehydration can cause dizziness, so drink water or electrolyte-replenishing drinks like sports drinks.
3. Avoid Sudden Movements: When standing or sitting, do so slowly to avoid triggering dizziness. Take your time when getting up.
4. Eat Small, Regular Meals: Low blood sugar can cause dizziness, so eat small meals throughout the day and avoid skipping meals.
5. Fresh Air: Sometimes dizziness can be alleviated by taking slow, deep breaths in a well-ventilated area.

Headache

1. Rest in a Quiet, Dark Room: Find a calm, quiet space away from bright lights and loud noises. Lie down and close your eyes.
2. Hydrate: Dehydration can contribute to headaches, so drink plenty of water.
3. Apply a Cold or Warm Compress: A cold pack on your forehead may reduce pain, or a warm compress on your neck or shoulders can relieve tension.
4. Over-the-Counter Pain Relief: You can take over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen if appropriate for you. Follow the recommended dosage.

ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with liver disease. It should be used with caution in patients with liver cirrhosis. Consult your doctor before taking ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET.

Allergy

Contraindicated

Do not take ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Amlodipine or Metoprolol. It should be used with caution in patients with history of allergic reactions such as insect stings, foods or other substances.

Lungs

Contraindicated

ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with breathing difficulties or asthma including COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-causing cough, wheezing or breathlessness, phlegm or increase in chest infections). Consult your doctor before taking ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET.

Heart Disease

ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart conduction or rhythm problems, severe or uncontrolled heart failure, shock caused by heart problems, heart attack, prinzmetal’s angina (suffering from a tight, painful feeling in the chest in periods of rest). ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with controlled heart failure and slow heart rate. Consult your doctor before taking ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET.

Use In Pediatrics

Contraindicated

ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged under 18 years). Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

Use In Geriatrics

Use with Caution

ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above) usually, the management will be initiated with a lower dosage by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET.

Interactions

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET inform your doctor, if you are taking or receiving any of these medicines:

• verapamil, nifedipine, diltiazem, hydralazine, clonidine or prazosin (used to manage high blood pressure)
• monoamine oxidase inhibitors such as phenelzine, tricyclic (Ex. amitriptyline) or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) antidepressants (Ex. escitalopram, fluoxetine), st. john’s wort (used to manage depression)
• disopyramide, quinidine, amiodarone and propafenone (used to manage irregular heartbeat)
• ketoconazole, itraconazole (used to manage fungal infections)
• ritonavir, indinavir, nelfinavir (manages HIV infection)
• rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin (manages bacterial infection)
• dantrolene infusion (used for severe body temperature abnormalities)
• tacrolimus, sirolimus, temsirolimus, cyclosporine and everolimus (used to alter the way your immune system works to manage organ rejection after transplant)                                                                                   
• simvastatin (used to lower cholesterol)
• cimetidine (used to manage stomach ulcers)
• barbiturates such as phenobarbital (manages epilepsy)
• phenothiazines such as compazine (used to manage mental illness)
• lidocaine, cyclopropane or trichloroethylene (used as anesthetics)
• aldesleukin (used to manage some cancers)
• alprostadil (manages erectile dysfunction)
• temazepam, nitrazepam, diazepam (used to manage insomnia)
• indomethacin or celecoxib (manages pain)
• contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy (Ex. oestrogens) (used to manage pregnancy)
• hydrocortisone, prednisolone (used to manage inflammatory conditions)
• beta-blocker eye drops (Ex. timolol) (used to manage glaucoma)
• medicines used to manage diabetes such as metformin, insulin
• moxisylyte (used in raynaud’s syndrome)
• mefloquine (manages malaria)
• tropisetron (used to manage nausea and vomiting)
• aminophylline, theophylline (used to manage asthma)
• ergotamine (used to migraine headache)
• digoxin (used to manage heart conditions)
• hydroxychloroquine (used to manage rheumatoid arthritis)
• diphenhydramine (used to manage allergy)
• adrenaline (epinephrine) or noradrenaline (norepinephrine) (used in anaphylactic shock)

B. Drug-Food interaction:

Avoid consumption of grapefruit juice and grapefruit while taking ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET, this is because grapefruit and grapefruit juice can lead to an unpredictable increase in the blood pressure-lowering effect of ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET.

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage symptoms of ANGICAM M 50MG TABLET are low blood pressure (fatigue and dizziness), slow pulse, heart conduction problems, shortness of breath, unconsciousness, coma, cardiac arrest, nausea and vomiting, blue colouring of the skin, low blood sugar levels and high levels of potassium in the blood.
