Introduction About AMPILOX C DROPS
AMPILOX C DROPS is a combination of Ampicillin and Cloxacillin which belongs to the group of medicines called Penicillin Antibiotics. It is used to manage respiratory tract infections like bronchopneumonia, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, post-operative wound infections, post-operative lung infections, puerperal fever and other infections such as septicaemia, bone infections like osteomyelitis, ear, nose and throat infections. It is also indicated for the prophylaxis or management of bacterial infections in premature babies or neonates.
Before taking AMPILOX C DROPS inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease. There is no proper information on the use of AMPILOX C DROPS during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and therefore consult your doctor before taking.
AMPILOX C DROPS should be used with caution in children. Contact your doctor before taking.
AMPILOX C DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients aged 65 years and above. Contact your doctor before taking.
The most common side effects of taking AMPILOX C DROPS are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rash, urticaria and pruritus. Contact your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen.

How AMPILOX C DROPS Works
AMPILOX C DROPS is a combination of Ampicillin and cloxacillin where ampicillin has a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. It acts through the inhibition of cell wall mucopeptide biosynthesis during the stage of active multiplication. Cloxacillin manages bacteria from reproducing, which allows your body to fight only the existing bacteria.
How to use AMPILOX C DROPS
Take this medicine as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Measure it with a dropper and take it as directed. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can further irritate your skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Contact your doctor if the symptoms did not resolve.

Allergy
Do not take AMPILOX C DROPS if you are allergic to Ampicillin, Cloxacillin or to beta lactam antibiotics (Ex. penicillins, cephalosporins) or to other ingredients of this medicine.

Before taking AMPILOX C DROPS, inform your doctor if you are:
- on low salt diet

Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Inform your physician, if you are taking,
- medicines which inhibit the bacteria growth (Ex. chloramphenicol, erythromycin, sulphonamides and tetracyclines)
- medicines used to manage gout (Ex. probenecid, allopurinol)
- acetylsalicylic acid (medicine used to manage blood clots)
- medicines used to manage pregnancy (Ex. oral contraceptives)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose are gastrointestinal effects such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
