    Introduction About AMICLINE PLUS TABLET

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET is a combination of Ornidazole and Diloxanide which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics and Anti-protozoal agents respectively. It is used in the management of intestinal and extraintestinal amoebiasis (parasitic infection of the intestines caused by the amoeba Entamoeba histolytica). It is also used to manage diarrhea (amoebic etiology) and giardiasis (diarrheal infection of small intestine caused by Giardia lamblia).

    Your doctor might want you to make certain lifestyle changes such as maintaining good hygiene, eating a healthy diet and drinking plenty of fluids.

    Do not consume alcohol while taking AMICLINE PLUS TABLET. Consult your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

    Before taking AMICLINE PLUS TABLET inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart disease, epilepsy or multiple sclerosis (affecting brain).

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age.

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. The most common side effects of taking AMICLINE PLUS TABLET are nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal cramp, loss of appetite. Consult your doctor if symptoms worsen or persists for a longer duration.

    Uses Of AMICLINE PLUS TABLET

    It is used to manage:

    • Diarrhea  
    • Giardiasis
    • Acute or chronic intestinal amoebiasis
    • Extra-intestinal amoebiasis
    • Asymptomatic cyst passers

    How AMICLINE PLUS TABLET Works

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET is a combination of Ornidazole and Diloxanide. Ornidazole belongs to antibiotics which works against bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging the DNA. Diloxanide belongs to amoebicide which works inside the large intestine to destroy the infection causing amoeba (parasites).

    How to use AMICLINE PLUS TABLET

    Take AMICLINE PLUS TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of AMICLINE PLUS TABLET

    Common

    • flatulence

    • abdominal pain and cramps
    • change in taste

    Rare

    • diarrhea
    • dry mouth

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or Vomiting:

    Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Consult your doctor if symptoms does not improve.

    Flatulence:

    Eat smaller and frequent meals. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly. Keep a heat. Consult your doctor if symptoms don’t improve.

    Headache:

    Avoid bright lights, take enough rest and drink lots of water. Consult your doctor if symptoms don’t improve.

    Pregnancy

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in women who are pregnant or planning to have a baby. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is unknown if it passes through breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or use any heavy machines while taking AMICLINE PLUS TABLET as it can make you dizzy.

    Alcohol

    Do not consume alcohol while taking AMICLINE PLUS TABLET due to increased risk of side effects.

    Kidney

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose will be adjusted by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Liver

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose will be adjusted by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Allergy

    Do not take AMICLINE PLUS TABLET if you are allergic to Ornidazole or Diloxanide or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    Before taking AMICLINE PLUS TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • have epilepsy
    • have multiple sclerosis

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    AMICLINE PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking AMICLINE PLUS TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • warfarin (blood-thinning agent)
    • vecuronium bromide (muscle relaxant)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of AMICLINE PLUS TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are dizziness, nausea, headache.
