Introduction About AIMET XR 25MG TABLET

AIMET XR 25MG TABLET is used in the management of high blood pressure, angina pectoris (chest pain), heart failure, arrhythmias or palpitations, heart attacks and migraine headaches. It contains Metoprolol which is a beta-blocker that works by controlling heart functions and reduces strain on the heart.

Take AIMET XR 25MG TABLET only under medical supervision. It is usually taken with or immediately after meals. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor as a precaution.

Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medicine as it lowers blood pressure. It is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, COPD, severe bradycardia, second or third-degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, cardiac failure, sick sinus syndrome (unless a permanent pacemaker is present) and unmanaged pheochromocytoma.

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, stroke, liver or kidney disease or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as a precaution.

Low blood pressure, tiredness, dizziness, headache, cold hands and feet are some of the common side effects associated with the use metoprolol. These side effects are usually manageable. However, consult your doctor if they trouble you.

How AIMET XR 25MG TABLET Works

In hypertension, AIMET XR 25MG TABLET works by blocking the effect of adrenaline on the heart and decreasing cardiac output, also reducing the outflow of sympathetic neurons, and suppressing renin activity (normally responsible for the increase in blood pressure). Together, these actions lower blood pressure effectively.

In angina pectoris, AIMET XR 25MG TABLET works by blocking adrenaline effects on the heart and decreases the heart rate, blood pressure, and extent of heart contraction. It also reduces the oxygen requirements of the heart, providing relief from angina.

In heart failure, AIMET XR 25MG TABLET slows down the heart rate and makes it easier for the heart to pump blood around the body.

How to use AIMET XR 25MG TABLET

    • Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose depends on your condition (like high blood pressure or heart-related issues) and response to the treatment
