    Introduction About ADDEX 1000MG POWDER

    ADDEX 1000MG POWDER contains Cadexomer Iodine which belongs to a group of medicines called Anti-Bacterial agents. It is used for the management of chronic exuding wounds such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers and infected traumatic and surgical wounds.

    ADDEX 1000MG POWDER is not recommended for use if you have hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), ulcers due to collagen diseases and large ulcers. Contact your doctor before applying it.

    ADDEX 1000MG POWDER should be used with caution in patients with latent hyperthyroidism and nodular goitre (swelling of the thyroid gland). Contact your doctor before applying it.

    ADDEX 1000MG POWDER is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Inform your doctor if you experience any side effects after applying ADDEX 1000MG POWDER.

    How ADDEX 1000MG POWDER Works

    ADDEX 1000MG POWDER is an antibacterial agent and when applied to the wound, it cleans it by absorbing fluids, removing pus and debris and forming a moist gel over the wound surface and the iodine present in this medicine helps to kill micro-organisms in the wound site. Thus, helps to promote wound healing.

    How to use ADDEX 1000MG POWDER

    After cleaning the wound preferably with sterile water, physiological saline or a wet swab, ADDEX 1000MG POWDER is sprinkled into the wound to a depth of about 3mm and then cover with a dry dressing of gauze. In venous leg ulcer patients, a compression bandage or elastic stocking should also be applied. Remove any remaining ADDEX 1000MG POWDER with a gentle stream of saline or sterile water if applicable.

    Pregnancy

    ADDEX 1000MG POWDER is not recommended for use in pregnant women, as it may cross the placental barrier. Consult your doctor before applying it.

    Breastfeeding

    ADDEX 1000MG POWDER is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women, as it may pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before applying it

    Allergy

    Do not apply ADDEX 1000MG POWDER if you are allergic to cadexomer iodine or to iodine or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    ADDEX 1000MG POWDER is not recommended for use if you:

    • have hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)
    • have ulcers due to collagen diseases and large ulcers

    Before applying ADDEX 1000MG POWDER inform your doctor if you:

    • are scheduled for thyroid function test
    • have latent hyperthyroidism and nodular goitre (swelling of thyroid gland)

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before using ADDEX 1000MG POWDER, inform your doctor if you are using, have taken or might take any other medicine, including prescription, non-prescription or any herbal medicine.

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Signs and symptoms of iodine poisoning are vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea, followed by lack of urine production 1-3 days later. Death can result from circulatory failure, swelling of the glottis (throat) causing asphyxia (difficulty breathing) or pulmonary oedema (fluid in the lungs).
