Always begin by washing your hands thoroughly with a mild soap and drying them with a lint-free towel. Place the lens on the tip of your index finger and check that it is not inside out; the edges should form a straight bowl shape. Some lenses have a '123' indicator for verification. Gently hold your upper eyelid open with one hand and pull down your lower eyelid with a finger from the other hand. Look straight ahead or upwards and place the lens gently on your eye. Slowly release your eyelids and blink a few times to allow the lens to settle into place.
