Description
The 3M Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope is engineered for clinicians who require substantial acoustic performance and versatility. It is designed to help isolate subtle sounds, enabling healthcare professionals to hear changes in patient status in critical and challenging settings. This instrument is useful for identifying, listening to, and studying cardiac, lung, and other body sounds in both adult and pediatric patients, assisting in confident diagnosis.
Tunable Diaphragms: Features single-piece tunable diaphragms on both the adult and pediatric sides of the chestpiece, allowing the user to hear different frequency sounds by adjusting pressure. Dual-Lumen Tubing: Combines two sound paths in one tube to eliminate the rubbing noise common with traditional double tubes, providing clearer sound. Versatile Chestpiece: The dual-sided stainless steel chestpiece is designed for use with both adult and pediatric patients. The pediatric side can also be converted to a traditional open bell. Adjustable Headset: The headset is designed to be easily adjusted for an individual fit and comfort, with angled eartubes that align with the ear canals. Durable Materials: The next-generation tubing is more resistant to skin oils and alcohol and is not made with natural rubber latex or phthalate plasticizers.
Q: What is the function of the tunable diaphragm?
A: The tunable diaphragm allows clinicians to hear different frequency sounds by simply adjusting the pressure on the chestpiece. Light pressure is used for low-frequency sounds, while firm pressure allows for hearing high-frequency sounds.
Q: Is this stethoscope suitable for both adult and pediatric patients?
A: Yes, it features a dual-sided chestpiece with a larger diaphragm for adults and a smaller one for pediatric patients. The pediatric side can also be converted to a traditional open bell for more versatile use.
Q: How should this stethoscope be cleaned?
A: It is recommended to clean the stethoscope between patient examinations using a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe or a disposable wipe with soap and water. Do not immerse the stethoscope in any liquid or subject it to any sterilization process.

Direction for Use/Dosage
Adjust the headset tension for a comfortable fit by pulling the eartubes apart to loosen or squeezing them together to tighten. The eartubes should be angled to align with your ear canals. Rotate the dual-sided chestpiece to select either the adult or pediatric diaphragm; a mark on the stem indicates the active side. For listening to low-frequency sounds, apply light pressure on the chestpiece. For listening to high-frequency sounds, apply firm pressure on the chestpiece. To convert the pediatric side to an open bell, remove the single-piece diaphragm and replace it with the non-chill rim.
