ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP contains Cefixime which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, sinus, respiratory tract (bronchus, lungs), urinary tract, genital tract and biliary tract in children (aged between 6 months up to 12 years). It can also be used in the treatment of typhoid fever.
A bacterial infection can be defined as a proliferation of various harmful strains of bacteria in the body. They can affect any part(s) of the body including the respiratory tract, urinary tract, reproductive tract, eyes, ears, skin, soft tissue, or bones.
Therapy with ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP should be continued for the stipulated duration instructed by your doctor even if your child feels better during the midway of the therapy. Failing to complete the full course of the therapy or skipping doses in between the therapy may not result in adequate infection control.
Prior to the therapy, inform your doctor about the child’s pre-existing disease conditions such as any stomach problems or kidney problems as a precaution. The most common side effects of taking ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain and bloating. Consult your doctor immediately if any of these side effects worsen in your child.
It is used in children (aged between 6 months up to 12 years) to treat various bacterial infections such as:
ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP is a powerful antibiotic with bacteriostatic properties. It kills the susceptible bacteria by blocking the bacterial cell wall synthesis. Unlike other cephalosporins, it can also remain unaffected by the toxic proteins produced by the bacteria (such as beta lactamases). Collectively, these actions destroy the susceptible bacteria, prevent their further growth and multiplication and reduce the severity of the infection.
Administer ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP to your child as advised by your physician. It can be taken with or without food.
Shake the bottle well to loosen the dry powder. Add the sterile water provided with this pack up to the ring mark present on the bottle surface. Add extra water if required to adjust the volume up to the ring mark. Close the bottle tightly and shake the mixture well.
The quantity (ml) which is required to be administered to your child will be decided by your doctor. Do not stop therapy with ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP once the symptoms subside in your child. It is important to consume ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP for the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor to achieve control over the infection.
Stop therapy with ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP and contact your doctor immediately if your child experiences any of the following side effects such as:
Nausea or vomiting:
Make sure that your child takes ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP with, or just after meals. Provide your child with simple meals. Avoid them giving oil rich or spicy foods. Please consult your doctor immediately if your child experience severe nausea or vomiting.
Diarrhoea:
Make sure that your child drinks plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep themself hydrated. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. If diarrhea worsens, contact your doctor immediately.
Do not let your child drive or handle any heavy tools if their ability is affected by ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP.
ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP should be used with caution in children with kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not administer ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP to your child if your child is allergic to Cefixime or to any other cephalosporin antibiotics including penicillins.

If you forgot to take a dose of ZOFIX 100MG DRY SYRUP, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time to take the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one at regular times. Do not take a double dose to compensate the forgotten dose.
