Introduction About ZOCEF DRY SYRUP
ZOCEF DRY SYRUP contains Cefuroxime which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial infections such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis (upper respiratory tract infection), acute bacterial otitis media (infection of the middle ear), cystitis (infection of the urinary bladder), pyelonephritis (infection affecting the kidneys), acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis (infection of the nasal cavity and sinuses), and impetigo (infection of the skin).
Before starting the management, your doctor may want to do some tests to know the type of bacteria causing the infection and monitor bacterial sensitivity to ZOCEF DRY SYRUP during the management. Before giving ZOCEF DRY SYRUP to your child, inform your doctor if your child is allergic (hypersensitive) to cefuroxime, any other group of cephalosporins and penicillin antibiotics.
Before giving ZOCEF DRY SYRUP to your child, inform your doctor if your child have or had any heart problems, liver or kidney problems. During the therapy, your doctor would regularly monitor your child’s health to avoid the risk of side effects.
Your doctor will prescribe the right dose and duration depends on the child’s age, body weight and health condition, so stick to the dose, time, and duration prescribed by the doctor. Minor and temporary side effects may be experienced after the intake of this medicine. These includes dizziness, diarrhoea and sickness.
Generally, these effects subside once the child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, in case of prolonged or bothersome events, consult your doctor immediately without any delay. Inform your doctor about your child’s complete medical history including any previous episodes of allergies.

- intra-abdominal infections
How ZOCEF DRY SYRUP Works
ZOCEF DRY SYRUP is a second-generation cephalosporin that interferes with the production of the bacterial cell wall by blocking its binding to specific binding proteins located inside the bacterial cell wall. This leads to breaking down the cell wall of the bacteria and reducing its stability, thus causing cell damage, and eventually causing bacterial elimination.
How to use ZOCEF DRY SYRUP
Take ZOCEF DRY SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. It is for pediatric use only. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of ZOCEF DRY SYRUP
Common
- headache
- dizziness
- gastrointestinal disturbances
- transient rise in liver enzymes
- diarrhoea
- feeling sick
- stomach pain
Rare
Stop giving ZOCEF DRY SYRUP and contact your doctor immediately if your child experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions such as raised and itchy rash, rash with blisters swelling on the face and mouth causing difficulty in breathing
How To Manage Side Effects

Diarrhea
Give lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep your child hydrated. Avoid giving any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

Headache
Give plenty of water and apply a wet or cold cloth on child’s forehead. Apply pain balm to head to ease off the pain. If there is no improvement in the symptom, contact your doctor.

Stomach Pain
Give your child smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on the stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionDo not allow your child drive or play outdoors, as ZOCEF DRY SYRUP may cause dizziness or blurry vision. Consult your doctor before giving ZOCEF DRY SYRUP.

Kidney
Use with CautionZOCEF DRY SYRUP should be used with caution if the child have kidney disease. Consult your doctor before giving ZOCEF DRY SYRUP.

Liver
Use with CautionZOCEF DRY SYRUP should be used with caution if the child have liver disease. Consult your doctor before giving ZOCEF DRY SYRUP.

Allergy
ContraindicatedDo not give ZOCEF DRY SYRUP if your child is allergic (hypersensitive) to Cefuroxime or other cephalosporins and antibiotics such as penicillins, monobactams and carbapenems.

Lungs
Use with CautionZOCEF DRY SYRUP should be used with caution if the child have any lung problems. Consult your doctor before giving ZOCEF DRY SYRUP.

Heart Disease
