Introduction About ZOAMET EYE DROPS
ZOAMET EYE DROPS contains Oxymetazoline which belongs to the group of medicines called Ophthalmic Antihistamines and decongestants. It is used to relieve eye redness and discomfort caused due to allergic or irritant conditions.
ZOAMET EYE DROPS is for ophthalmic use only. Gently instil few drops of the medicine as directed by your physician. Gently instil few drops of this medicine into the affected eyes. Close your eyes and gently press the inner corner of your eye for 2 minutes. Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids or areas around your eyes or fingers, to avoid contamination.
If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying ZOAMET EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Leave a time gap of 5 minutes before applying any other medicines in the eyes.
Before using ZOAMET EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, or any heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have any other problems in eyes as a precaution.
Consult your doctor before using ZOAMET EYE DROPS if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of using ZOAMET EYE DROPS are eye pain or irritation and increased pressure in the eyes. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

How ZOAMET EYE DROPS Works
ZOAMET EYE DROPS works by narrowing down the blood vessels supplying the eyes. This helps swollen blood vessels of the eyes to return to its normal size which reduces eye redness and discomfort.
How to use ZOAMET EYE DROPS
Use ZOAMET EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only.
Wash your hands before application. Tilt your head slightly backwards and place the tip of the container close to your eyes. Gently instil few drops of this medicine into the affected eyes. Close your eyes and gently press the inner corner of your eye for 2 minutes. Repeat the same for the other eye if required.
If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying ZOAMET EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Leave a time gap of 5 minutes before applying any other medicines in the eyes.
Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids or areas around your eyes or fingers, to avoid contamination. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition.

How To Manage Side Effects

Wash your eyes with plain cold water. Place an ice pack on your eye to ease the irritation. Avoid straining your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops, or television. Wear protective eyeglasses while going outdoors. If irritation still persists, contact your doctor.

ZOAMET EYE DROPS is not recommended for use if you:
- have narrow angle glaucoma (increased pressure within the eyes)

- have any eye surface disease
- have diabetes
- have hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland)
- have any eye inflammation
- wear soft contact lenses
- have an enlarged prostate
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before using ZOAMET EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- antidepressants (used to manage depression) such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. moclobemide, isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine), tricyclic antidepressants (Ex. amitriptyline, nortriptyline), lithium, fluoxetine, sertraline, citalopram, escitalopram etc.
- medicines used to control blood pressure such as alpha blockers (Ex. prazosin, terazocin), beta blockers (Ex. propranolol, atenolol) or bethanidine, debrisoquine and guanethidine
- timolol, betaxolol (used to manage glaucoma in the eye)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally used excessive amount of this medicine, rinse your eyes or ears with warm water. If still irritation persists, consult your doctor for advice. If you or anyone else accidentally swallowed this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.
