INTRODUCTION

TOPINATE AL GEL(TOPICAL) is a combination of Clobetasol propionate and Lactic acid which belongs to a group of medicines called Topical Corticosteroids, and Alpha-hydroxy acids, respectively. TOPINATE AL GEL(TOPICAL) is used to treat, control, prevent, and improve conditions and symptoms of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, moderate to severe plaque-type psoriasis, dry skin, scaly skin, and ichthyosis vulgaris.

Corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses are skin conditions that develop as a result of a reaction to corticosteroid medications and are characterised by symptoms such as dry skin, redness, itching, rashes, and/or sores. Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes a rash with itchy, scaly patches that most commonly occur on the knees, elbows, trunk, and scalp.

Ichthyosis vulgaris is an inherited or acquired skin condition that occurs when skin doesn’t shed its dead cells, leading to symptoms such as dry, itchy, rough skin that looks dirty, noticeably on the palms and soles of the feet.

TOPINATE AL GEL(TOPICAL) should not be used in patients who have skin infections such as rosacea (severe flushing of the skin on and around the nose) or perioral dermatitis (spotty red rash around the mouth). Before applying TOPINATE AL GEL(TOPICAL), inform your doctor if you have concomitant skin infections (skin diseases caused by parasites).

TOPINATE AL GEL(TOPICAL) should only be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women if absolutely necessary.TOPINATE AL GEL(TOPICAL) is not recommended for use in children (below 12 years) due to side effects such as HPA axis suppression (poor body defence against infection), Cushing’s syndrome (hormonal disorder), and intracranial hypertension (high blood pressure in the brain).
