What is TONACT D 10MG?

  • TONACT D 10MG contains active ingredients called Atorvastatin and Cholecalciferol

Atorvastatin:

  • Atorvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering agent which belongs to the group of drugs called statins or HMG CoA reductase inhibitors
  • It decreases the low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol) and triglyceride in the blood, as well as increases the high-density lipoprotein (good cholesterol)
  • It helps in preventing the build-up of cholesterol in the arteries
  • It also reduces blood flow to the brain, heart and other body parts

Cholecalciferol:

  • Cholecalciferol is vitamin D3. It aids the body to absorb calcium

Talk to your doctor before taking TONACT D 10MG, if you:

  • are allergic (hypersensitive) TONACT D 10MG or any other contents of this medicine
  • have liver or kidney disease
  • have cardiovascular disorder
  • have diabetes
  • have hypothyroidism
  • have electrolyte imbalance
  • have had repeated or unexplained muscle aches or pains
  • regularly drink a large amount of alcohol
  • have severe respiratory failure
  • have had a previous stroke with bleeding into the brain, or have small pockets of fluid in the brain from previous strokes
  • have high blood calcium levels
  • have high urine calcium levels
  • have too much vitamin D in your body
  • have any type of cancer of the bone
  • have sarcoidosis (inflammation that produces lumps of cells in various organs in the body)
  • have any type of cancer of the bone

Tell your doctor about any other medicine you are taking:

  • ciclosporin, used to alter the way your immune system works
  • erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin, ketoconazole, itraconazole, voriconazole, fluconazole, posaconazole, rifampin, fusidic acid used for antibiotics or antifungal medicines
  • gemfibrozil, other fibrates, colestipol used to regulate lipid levels
  • amlodipine diltiazem, used for angina or high blood pressure
  • digoxin, verapamil, amiodarone used to regulate your heart rhythm
  • ritonavir, lopinavir, atazanavir, indinavir, darunavir, the combination of tipranavir/ritonavir, used in the treatment of HIV
  • telaprevir, boceprevir, used in the treatment of hepatitis C
  • ezetimibe (which lowers cholesterol), warfarin (which reduces blood clotting), oral contraceptives, stiripentol (an anti-convulsant for epilepsy), cimetidine (used for heartburn and peptic ulcers), phenazone (a painkiller), colchicines (used to treat gout), antacids (indigestion products containing aluminium or magnesium)
  • other medications containing vitamin D or calcium
  • digitoxin and digoxin, used to treat certain heart conditions

  • Swallow the whole with a glass of water
  • It can be taken at any time of day, with or without food
  • Take this tablet daily at the same time

If you take more TONACT D 10MG

  • If you take too many TONACT D 10MG contact your doctor immediately or go to the emergency department of the nearest hospital

If you forget to take TONACT D 10MG

  • If you happen to miss a dose of TONACT D 10MG, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose

If you stop taking TONACT D 10MG

  • Do not stop this TONACT D 10MG until your physician tells

  • skin rash with pink-red blotches especially on palms of hands or soles of feet which may blister
  • muscle weakness, tenderness or pain

  • nausea, constipation, wind, indigestion, diarrhoea

  • having nightmares, insomnia
