SHELCAL ISO CAPSULE is a combination of Calcitriol, Calcium Carbonate and Soya Isoflavones which belongs to a group of medicines known as Vitamin D analogues, Calcium supplement and Phytoestrogens respectively. It is indicated for the dietary management of the metabolic processes of bone defects like osteopenia and osteoporosis.
Osteopenia is a loss of bone mineral density (BMD) that weakens bones. Osteoporosis is a bone disease that develops when bone mineral density and bone mass decreases, or when the structure and strength of bone changes. This can lead to a decrease in bone strength that can increase the risk of fractures (broken bones).
SHELCAL ISO CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with kidney stones and it should be used with caution in patients having signs of impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor for advice. SHELCAL ISO CAPSULE should be used with caution during pregnancy or if you think you may be pregnant and in breastfeeding woman. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. The common side effects are headache, stomach pain, nausea (feel sick), rash and signs of urinary tract infection (bladder pain, foul smell, cloudy urine, frequent urination). Consult your doctor if the symptoms does not improve.
SHELCAL ISO CAPSULE effectively improves the bone strength where Calcitriol increases the calcium levels by acting on the cells of gastrointestinal tract to increase the uptake of calcium. Calcium carbonate is a nutritional supplement which directly increases the calcium stores in the body. Soya isoflavones stimulates the multiplication of bone forming cells called osteoblast thereby increases the bone density.
Take this SHELCAL ISO CAPSULE as instructed by your doctor. Swallow as a whole and do not crush or chew. Your doctor will give the right dose depends on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage on scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.
Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Try to avoid oily rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Try to drink liquid slowly along with your meals, or in between meals. Consult your doctor if your symptom is not improving.
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not rub or scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If it does not get better, consult your doctor.
Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Consult your doctor for advice.
