What ROLIFLO OD is used for?

It is used,

  • in men for the treatment of the symptoms of the lower urinary tract infection associated with an enlarged prostatic gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia). These complaints may include difficulty urinating (poor stream), dribbling, urgency and having to urinate frequently at night as well as during the day
  • for the treatment of the symptoms of overactive bladder syndrome. If you have overactive bladder syndrome, you may find that you are unable to control urination and need to rush to the toilet with no warning and/or go to the toilet frequently

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to Tamsulosin and Tolterodine or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine 
  • have a history of a fall in blood pressure on standing up, which causes dizziness, light-headedness or fainting
  • have severe liver, kidney or heart problems
  • are undergoing or have been scheduled for eye surgery
  • are unable to pass urine from the bladder (urinary retention)
  • suffer from myasthenia gravis (excessive weakness of the muscles)
  • suffer from severe ulcerative colitis (ulceration and inflammation of the colon)
  • suffer from a toxic megacolon (acute dilatation of the colon)
  • have a hiatal hernia (herniation of an abdominal organ)
  • have abnormally low levels of potassium, calcium or magnesium in your blood
  • You should not use this medicine when you are pregnant
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant
  • Breast-feeding is not recommended during this treatment
  • You should not give this medicine to your children
  • ROLIFLO OD may make you feel dizzy, tired or affect your sight; your ability to drive or operate machinery may be affected


Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines such as:

  • diclofenac, a pain killer and anti-inflammatory medicine
  • warfarin, a medicine to prevent blood clotting
  • another a-adrenoceptor blocker such as prazosin
  • ketoconazole, erythromycin used to treat infections
  • medicines that affect the passage of food (e.g. metoclopramide, domperidone and cisapride)
  • medicines for the treatment of irregular heartbeat (e.g. amiodarone, sotalol, quinidine, procainamide)
  • other medicines with a similar mode of action to ROLIFLO OD (antimuscarinic properties) or medicines with an opposite mode of action to ROLIFLO OD (cholinergic properties)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • The usual dose is one capsule per day taken after breakfast or after your first meal of the day
  • Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water, while standing or sitting (not while lying down)
  • Do not break or open the capsule 

If you take more ROLIFLO OD

  • Contact your doctor or go to nearest hospital immediately if you take more ROLIFLO OD 

If you forget to take ROLIFLO OD

  • If you have missed a dose, just continue to take your daily capsule as prescribed
  • Never take a double dose to make up for the forgotten dose

If you stop taking ROLIFLO OD

  • Always consult your doctor, if you consider stopping this therapy
Very Rare

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • hypersensitivity reaction with purplish spots or patches on the skin, blisters on the skin, peeling of the skin, (high) fever, joint pain and  or eye inflammation (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • serious allergic reaction which causes swelling of the face or throat (angio-oedema)
  • dizziness
  • dry mouth, dry eyes/skin
  • headache
  • bronchitis
  • sleepiness
  • blurred vision
  • abdominal pain
  • spinning sensation
  • indigestion (dyspepsia) or stomach upset
  • painful or difficult urination
  • increased weight
  • vomiting
  • sensation of pins and needles in the fingers and toes
  • extra fluid in the body causing swelling (e.g. in the ankles)
  • headache
  • palpitations
  • a fall in blood pressure on standing up, which causes dizziness, light-headedness or fainting (orthostatic hypotension)
  • swelling and irritation inside the nose (rhinitis)
  • constipation or diarrhoea
  • nervousness
  • irregular heartbeat, increased heart rate
  • heart burn
  • memory impairment
  • fainting (syncope)
  • angio-oedema
  • painful, prolonged, unwanted erection for which immediate medical treatment is required (priapism)
