INTRODUCTION

PRIMOLUT N contains Norethisterone which belongs to a group of medicines called Progestogens which are similar to the natural female hormone progesterone. It is used to treat or manage heavy, painful, irregular periods, premenstrual tension (PMT), endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition (where tissue from your womb is found outside your womb) and breast cancer. It is also prescribed to delay next period.

Norethisterone is a synthetic progestin used to treat hormone related conditions such as menopausal symptoms and endometriosis. It works similar to natural progesterone with much higher potency. It alters the cervical and endometrial function at the pelvic level and inhibits the pituitary hormones that plays a role in follicular maturation and ovulation. Thus, by mimicking the effects of natural progesterone PRIMOLUT N helps in treating menstrual irregularities by regulating the growth and shedding of the womb lining.

Always take this PRIMOLUT N exactly as directed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Norethisterone. It is not indicated for children. The common side effects are headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
