PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION contains Azithromycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Macrolides. It is used in children to treat infections caused by bacteria and other micro-organisms which include chest, throat, and nasal infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, sore throat and sinusitis.
It is also used to treat ear infections (such as acute otitis media) and skin & soft tissue infections (such as an abscess or boil) in affected children which is also indicated for use to treat sexually transmitted diseases (caused by organisms such as chlamydia trachomatis/ Neisseria gonorrhoea) in the affected child.
PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in children allergic to azithromycin, other antibiotics such as erythromycin/clarithromycin (macrolides), and/or ketolides.
Before administering PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if the child has diabetes, myasthenia gravis (a condition marked by weak muscles), heart problems, liver problems (such as an impaired hepatic function), and/or kidney problems (such as impaired renal function).
PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women since it is used only in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). It is also not recommended for use in elderly patients.
The most common side effects of administering PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION in children are stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhoea, flatulence, dizziness, headache, skin rash, or itching. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms become worse in the child.
Used in paediatric patients:
PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis (essential for the bacteria to grow) that results in its destruction thus preventing its growth and spread of infection in affected individuals.
Administer PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION in the child as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the exact dose and duration of treatment for your child depending on the child’s age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop administering PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION and consult your doctor immediately in case the child experiences:
Nausea/vomiting:
Have the child take this medicine with or after a meal or a snack. Let the child stick to simple meals and avoid having rich or spicy food.
Constipation:
Ask the child to drink an adequate amount of water and include plenty of fruits and vegetables in the child’s diet. Constipation should go away after a few days followed by its administration in the child. If it persists for a longer time or becomes severe then consult your doctor.
Headache:
Ask the child to take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Headaches usually go away after the first week of administration of PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION. If it lasts more than a week or becomes severe, inform your doctor.
Diarrhoea:
Ask the child to drink lots of fluids such as water or fruit juices so that the child is sufficiently hydrated. Do not administer any medicine to treat the condition. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve or becomes worse.
PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it is used only in children.
PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is used only in children.
PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION should be administered with caution in children with kidney problems such as impaired renal function. Consult your doctor before administering the medicine to the child.
PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION should be administered with caution in children with liver problems such as impaired hepatic function. Consult your doctor before administering the medicine to the child.
Do not administer PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION if the child is allergic to azithromycin, other antibiotics such as erythromycin/clarithromycin (macrolides), ketolides, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
PRATHAM 200MG REDIUSE SUSPENSION should be administered with caution in children with heart problems. Consult your doctor before administering the medicine to the child.
