POWERCORT SHAMPOO contains Clobetasol, which belongs to the group of medicines called Topical corticosteroids. It is used by adults for the treatment of redness, scaling and itchiness associated with moderate to severe scalp psoriasis. Scalp psoriasis is a skin disease that causes lumps, reddish and scaly patches affecting your entire scalp or parts of it. It also spreads to the forehead, behind the neck and inside your ears.
POWERCORT SHAMPOO is not recommended for use in patients with other bacterial, fungal, viral, or parasitic skin infections such as cold sores, varicella (chicken pox), herpes zoster (shingles), impetigo, ringworm, athlete’s foot, thrush, skin tuberculosis or skin disease caused by syphilis and ulcerous wounds on the scalp. POWERCORT SHAMPOO should be used with caution in patients with a weak immune system or other scalp infections or about to have any surgery.
POWERCORT SHAMPOO should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if your doctor decides that the benefits will be greater than the risks. POWERCORT SHAMPOO is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age) and should be used with caution in elderly patients. The most common side effects of using POWERCORT SHAMPOO are skin discomfort, burning or itching where the medicine is applied.
POWERCORT SHAMPOO reduces inflammation by induction of lipoproteins (proteins that control the formation of potent inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes).
Always apply POWERCORT SHAMPOO as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Apply POWERCORT SHAMPOO on affected areas of the scalp. Use POWERCORT SHAMPOO only for the quantity and duration specified by your doctor. Your doctor will decide an appropriate dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop using POWERCORT SHAMPOO and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following:
Irritation and burning:
Avoid sharing vessels, personal items, or cosmetics with others. Use disinfects on objects you use in public spaces, such as gym equipment. Drink enough water and consume a nutritious diet. Do not use irritants or harsh chemicals. Sleep seven to eight hours every night. Use sun screens to prevent sunburn and other sun damage. Wash hands regularly with soap water.
Nausea:
Take regular sips of a cold drink. Have ginger or peppermint tea. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. If you still feel nauseous, contact your doctor.
Vomiting:
Get adequate rest. Drink lots of fluids, especially water. Have small sips if you feel sick. Eat when you feel like eating – you don't have to eat or avoid any specific foods. Do not take any medicine for vomiting without your doctor's consultation. If vomiting does not get better, contact your doctor.
Headache:
Drink plenty of water and get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Check with your doctor before taking any medicine for headache. If headache does not get better, consult your doctor.
Dizziness:
Lie down until dizziness is resolved, then get up slowly. Do not hurry and move slowly and carefully. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. If dizziness does not get better, consult your doctor.
POWERCORT SHAMPOO should be used during pregnancy only if your doctor decides that benefits will be greater than the risks. Consult your doctor before using POWERCORT SHAMPOO.
POWERCORT SHAMPOO should be used in breastfeeding women only if your doctor decides that benefits will be greater than the risks. Consult your doctor before using POWERCORT SHAMPOO.
POWERCORT SHAMPOO has no or very little influence on your ability to drive and use machines.
Do not use POWERCORT SHAMPOO if you are allergic to Clobetasol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or other steroid medicines.

How and when should I use POWERCORT SHAMPOO?
Apply POWERCORT SHAMPOO on the affected areas of the scalp. Do not wet your hair, apply it on a dry scalp first. Use only enough to cover the affected area and spread it to form a thin uniform film. Massage gently. Wash your hands carefully and any other parts of your body that came into contacts with POWERCORT SHAMPOO such as your neck and shoulders. Leave it in place for 15 minutes and then add water, lather and rinse thoroughly all parts of the scalp and body that came in contact with the medicine.
Do not get POWERCORT SHAMPOO on your lips, near your eyes or eyelids, face, groin, armpits, or mouth. Do not use it under any dressing or cover your head with a shower or bathing cap while POWERCORT SHAMPOO is on your scalp, unless directed to do so by your doctor. Your doctor will decide an appropriate dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Who should not use POWERCORT SHAMPOO?
