What is PHOSTAT Tablet used for?

PHOSTAT Tablet is used to treat hyperphosphatemia (high blood phosphate levels) in patients with kidney disease. By lowering blood phosphate levels, PHOSTAT Tablet can help keep your bones strong. It works by binding with phosphate from the diet, which aids in its removal from the body. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to take PHOSTAT Tablet?

The dosage of PHOSTAT Tablet prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label.

Take PHOSTAT Tablet by mouth with meals.

If your physician has instructed or directed you to take PHOSTAT Tablet medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.

Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of PHOSTAT Tablet, seek medical attention immediately.

It may be noted that drugs other than those listed above may also interact with PHOSTAT Tablet.
