PAXIDEP CR 37.5MG contains an antidepressant medicine called paroxetine which belongs to a group of medicines called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors. It used in adults to treat depressive and anxiety disorders like major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorders, anxiety after traumatic experience or generalized anxiety disorder.
Endogenous serotonin is responsible for stabilization of mood, feelings of well-being and happiness. It also helps with proper sleeping, eating and digestion. Lower levels of serotonin leads to depression or anxiety . Paroxetine inhibits presynaptic reuptake of serotonin and this inhibition raises the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft, relieving various depressive and anxiety symptoms.
Take PAXIDEP CR 37.5MG in the morning with food or as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. The most common side effect of taking this medicine is worsening of depression and suicidal thoughts. If this happens, contact your doctor immediately. Do not drive or use any tools or machines if your ability is affected by this medicine.
Paroxetine enhances the activity of serotonin by inhibiting serotonin re-uptake at pre-synapse by the serotonin (SERT) receptor. This inhibition raises the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft, relieving various depressive and anxiety symptoms.
Always take this medicine as directed by your physician. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration depending upon your health condition. Take the medicine in the morning with food or as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Nausea or vomiting:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal and stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.
Constipation:
Eat fibre rich foods like fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of water. Exercise regularly.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration. Avoid taking any other medicines for diarrhoea without speaking to a doctor.
PAXIDEP CR 37.5MG should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor for advice.

Do not drive or use any tools or machines if your ability is affected by this medicine.
Do not drink alcohol while you are taking paroxetine, as it may make your symptoms worse.

Yes. This medicine is habit forming and produces withdrawal symptoms like headache, dizziness and insomnia. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so.

No. This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age.
