Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to trihexyphenidyl or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have eye problem such as glaucoma (angle-closure type)
  • have blockage of the bladder, esophagus, stomach, intestines, severe ulcerative colitis
  • have breathing problems such as asthma, emphysema
  • have heart problems, high or low blood pressure
  • have intestinal problems like diarrhea, chronic constipation, ileus
  • have kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes
  • have mental problems
  • have certain nerve disease (autonomic neuropathy), seizure
  • have stomach problems such as acid reflux, hiatal hernia, ulcer
  • have or had stroke
  • have overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
  • have problems of urinating
  • suffer from a condition called myasthenia gravis (a rare muscle weakness disorder)
  • suffer from tardive dyskinesia (unusual movements of the face and tongue)

  • pramlintide used to treat diabetes
  • moclobemide, tranylcypromine, amitriptyline used for the treatment of depression
  • chlorpromazine, thioridazine or clozapine for the treatment of mental illness
  • antihistamines used for the treatment of allergies
  • disopyramide used for the treatment of an irregular heartbeat
  • levodopa used for the treatment of parkinson’s disease
  • amantadine used for viral infections
  • nefopam, aspirin used a pain killer
  • metoclopramide used to treat motion sickness
  • neostigmine, bethanechol used for the treatment of urinary retention

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a drink of water
  • PACITANE should be taken at meal times (just before or just after a meal)
  • The usual dose is between 5–15 mg per day (each tablet contains 2 mg) 

If you take more PACITANE

  • If you take more PACITANE or if someone else has taken your medicine, talk to your doctor immediately

If you forget to take PACITANE

  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is time for your next dose
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking PACITANE

  • Do not stop taking PACITANE tablets without talking to your doctor
