What OMEN TRIO 40/12.5MG is used for?

It is used to:

  • treat high blood pressure (hypertension)
  • treat heart failure
  • help reduce the fluid retention that occurs with some kidney or liver diseases
  • treat diabetes insipidus

Tell your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic (hypersensitive) to Chlortalidone, Olmesartan and Clinidipine are not passing any urine at all
  • have severe kidney or liver problems
  • have ever had gout
  • have Addison’s disease (which is a condition where your adrenal gland is not producing enough steroids)
  • suffer from yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice) or problems with drainage of the bile from the gallbladder (biliary obstruction e.g. gallstones).
  • have high cholesterol levels
  • are elderly
  • have or had severe aortic stenosis
  • have or had cardiogenic shock
  • have recent history of unstable angina or Myocardial Infarction (MI)
  • have or had heart failure and hypotension
  • It is not recommended for mothers who are breast-feeding
  • You must tell your doctor if you are pregnant or think you are pregnant or planning to have a baby
  • Your doctor will choose a suitable dose based on your child’s age and weight
  • You may feel sleepy or dizzy while being treated for your high blood pressure. If this happens, do not drive or use machines until the symptoms wear off. Ask your doctor for advice

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any of the following:

  • adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) - used to treat many different conditions, including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis
  • other treatments for high blood pressure or heart problems such as ACE inhibitors
  • beta blockers (for example propranolol hydrochloride)
  • methyldopa
  • vasodilators (for example - bosentan)
  • calcium channel blockers (for example amlodipine)
  • guanethidine
  • corticosteroids such as prednisolone or betamethasone - used to treat allergic and inflammatory diseases and immune reactions
  • asthma treatments such as salbutamol or formoterol
  • cytotoxic agents such as cyclophosphamide or methotrexate - used to treat cancer
  • anticholinergics such as atropine sulphate or hyoscine butyl bromide - for abdominal or stomach spasms or cramps
  • cholestyramine used to reduce cholesterol levels and prevent heart disease
  • amantadine used to treat parkinson’s disease or viral infections
  • amphotericin used to treat infections
  • calcium salts or vitamin D used for replacement therapy
  • non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAID) such as aspirin or indomethacin - used for pain relief or rheumatism
  • insulin and other treatments for diabetes such as chlorpropamide or glibenclamide
  • ciclosporin used to treat rheumatic disease or skin complaints or after a transplant
  • digoxin for an irregular heartbeat
  • lithium used to treat mental illness
  • aldesleukin, quinidine, phenytoin, rifampicin, erythromycin, other anti-hypertensive drugs and anti-psychotic drugs
  • Always take OMEN TRIO 40/12.5MG exactly as your doctor has told you to
  • Take OMEN TRIO 40/12.5MG in the morning with food
  • Swallow this medicine whole with a drink of water

 If you take more OMEN TRIO 40/12.5MG

  • If you have taken more OMEN TRIO 40/12.5MG, contact your doctor or go to nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take OMEN TRIO 40/12.5MG 

  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as possible, unless it is almost time to take the next dose. Do not take a double dose

 If you stop taking OMEN TRIO 40/12.5MG 

  • Do not stop taking your tablets without consulting your doctor
Very Rare

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.


  • muscles feel weak or will not work properly
  • irregular heartbeat


  • allergic reactions such as breathing problems, fainting (anaphylactic reactions)
  • pain or a tight or heavy feeling in the chest, especially when exercising
  • swelling of the face, mouth and/or larynx (voice box) together with itching and rash may occur during treatment with this medicine
  • difficulty or pain when urinating, with changes in the colour and amount of urine passed. pain in the lower back, feeling or being sick, feeling generally unwell


  • dizziness
  • swelling of face, lips, eyelids, tongue, hands and feet 
  • fast heartbeat


  • low levels of sodium which can cause tiredness, confusion, muscle twitching, fits or coma
  • low levels of magnesium
  • high blood sugar levels which can cause tiredness, weakness or feeling thirsty
  • nettle or skin rash
  • low blood pressure which may make you feel dizzy when you stand up
  • dizziness
  • loss of appetite
  • stomach upsets
  • impotence in men
  • low blood levels of potassium which can cause muscle weakness, muscle twitching or abnormal heartbeat
  • increased blood levels of uric acid
  • increased blood levels of cholesterol


  • feeling dizzy, headache
  • feeling sick, indigestion, diarrhoea, stomach ache, gastroenteritis
  • feeling tired, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, bronchitis, flu-like symptoms, cough
  • pain, particularly in the back, bones or joints
  • infection of the urinary tract
  • blood in the urine
  • swelling of ankles, feet, legs, hands and arms


  • hypotension
  • shaking of hands or feet
  • skin rash
  • increased urination frequency
  • stomach pain
  • diarrhea


  • gout which causes pain and swelling in the joints


  • spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • vomiting, weakness, feeling unwell
  • muscle pain
  • skin rash, allergic skin rash, itching, skin eruption (exanthema), skin lumps (wheals)


  • increased calcium in the blood which can cause agitation, sore eyes, abdominal pain
  • sugar in the urine (this would show up when your doctor or nurse tests your urine)
  • worsening of diabetes
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes caused by liver or blood problems (jaundice)
  • increased sensitivity of your skin to sunlight
  • abnormal heartbeat the symptoms of which include palpitations and fainting
  • pins and needles
  • reduction in blood platelets which increases the risk of bruising or bleeding
  • severe reduction in the number of white blood cells which makes infection more likely
  • an abnormally high number of eosinophils (type of white blood cell) in the blood
  • breathing problems
  • problems with your kidneys


  • lack of energy
  • muscle cramps
  • reduced kidney function, which may cause you to pass urine more frequently, especially at night, and will be seen in a blood test
  • low blood pressure, which may cause you to feel dizzy or tired


  • muscle pain
  • decrease in libido


  • low levels of chloride in the blood, symptoms include dry mouth, thirst, gastrointestinal disturbances (including nausea, vomiting), weakness, lethargy, drowsiness, restlessness, seizures, confusion, headache, muscle pains or cramps, hypotension
  • inflammation of the pancreas which causes severe stomach and back pain


  • severe persistent diarrhoea and substantial weight loss
