ODOXIL 500MG TABLET contains Cefadroxil which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to treat bacterial infections in both adults and in children (weighing more than 40 kg). It can be used in the treatment of various bacterial infections affecting the throat, upper part of the respiratory tract, skin and soft tissues and the urinary tract.
A bacterial infection can be defined as a proliferation of various harmful strains of bacteria in the body. They can affect any part(s) of the body including the respiratory tract, urinary tract, eyes, ears, skin, soft tissue or bones.
ODOXIL 500MG TABLET is effective in treating bacterial infections affecting different parts of the body including the respiratory tract, urinary tract, throat and skin and soft tissues.
ODOXIL 500MG TABLET must be taken with meals to avoid unwanted gastrointestinal side effects. Make sure to complete the full course of treatment with ODOXIL 500MG TABLET without any interruption. Do not miss a dose or stop taking ODOXIL 500MG TABLET without consulting your doctor as it may lead to growth of harmful bacteria within the body which cannot be further controlled by ODOXIL 500MG TABLET.
Before taking ODOXIL 500MG TABLET inform your doctor if you are going to have any blood test (Coombs Test) to detect blood count or any chemical urine test to detect blood sugar levels. ODOXIL 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics (such as amoxicillin, ampicillin) and in patients having severe kidney impairment (including dialysis).
ODOXIL 500MG TABLET should be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women only if prescribed by the physician. It is generally not recommended for use in children aged below 6 years or in those who weigh less than 40 kg.
The most common side effects of taking ODOXIL 500MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea. These side effects may probably reduce if ODOXIL 500MG TABLET is taken along with meals. However, consult your doctor if any of the side effect bothers you.

Take ODOXIL 500MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. It is preferably taken with meals to avoid unwanted gastrointestinal side effects.
For Tablet, Capsule: Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse the medicine in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the medicine immediately after reconstitution.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of the infection.

Nausea and Vomiting:
Take ODOXIL 500MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.
Diarrhea:
Hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juices. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. Do not self-treat diarrhea on your own. Consult your doctor if your diarrhea becomes uncontrollable or if you see blood in your stools.
Indigestion:
Eat when you are hungry. Try to eat smaller meals more often than usual. Snack only when you're hungry. Always try to have a nutritious snack that is high in calories and protein, such as dried fruit and nuts.
ODOXIL 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women and in those who are planning to have a baby. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
ODOXIL 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk and affect the nursing infant. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you experience headache or dizziness after taking ODOXIL 500MG TABLET.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ODOXIL 500MG TABLET.
ODOXIL 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney diseases. It should be used with caution in patients undergoing dialysis. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
