Introduction About NURODOL MD TABLET
NURODOL MD TABLET is used for the management of the symptoms of psychotic disorders such as excessive anxiety, tension, confusion, delusions, and agitation. NURODOL MD TABLET also helps to manage nausea and vomiting. It contains Prochlorperazine which belongs to the group of medicines called Phenothiazines. NURODOL MD TABLET works by balancing the chemicals called dopamine and serotonin and helps to manage mental illness. It also blocks the action of a chemical called dopamine in the brain.
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight while taking this medicine, as it may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Your doctor might prescribe regular tests while you are taking this medicine. These might include blood tests to determine the white blood cell count, blood sugar levels, and an ECG to check if your heart is working properly. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking NURODOL MD TABLET, as it may cause serious breathing difficulties. NURODOL MD TABLET is not recommended for use if you have brain damage, anemia, drowsiness, slower breathing, a weak pulse, a decrease in alertness because of taking certain medications or drinking alcohol, central nervous system depression or bone marrow depression.
NURODOL MD TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney problems, heart problems, or a family history of heart problems, diabetes, thyroid problems, glaucoma, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease. Consult your doctor before taking. NURODOL MD TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking NURODOL MD TABLET. It is not recommended for use in children under 1 year of age.
NURODOL MD TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and older), especially with dementia. The most common side effects of taking NURODOL MD TABLET are constipation, dry mouth, drowsiness, and blurred vision. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

Take NURODOL MD TABLET as advised by your doctor. Place NURODOL MD TABLET in the mouth and wait until the tablet gets dissolves. Do not swallow, crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of medicine for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.

- Respiratory depression
Stop taking NURODOL MD TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- Rashes, difficulty in swallowing or breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat or tongue (signs of allergic reaction)
- Neuroleptic malignant syndrome which includes symptoms such as an unusually pale complexion, sweating, rise in temperature, rapid heartbeat, stiff muscles, increased breathing rate, confusion, drowsiness or agitation
- Agranulocytosis or leukopenia (a blood disorder characterised by frequent infections such as fever, sore throat or mouth ulcers)
- Jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes)
- Palpitations (fast, uneven and forceful heartbeats) and breathing problems like wheezing, shortness of breath and chest pain or tightness
- Blood clots in the veins of the legs (swelling, pain and redness in the leg), which may travel through blood vessels to the lungs causing chest pain and difficulty in breathing)
- Extrapyramidal symptoms such as rigid or stiff muscles, trembling or shaking, body spasm, unusual eye movements such as rolling of the eyes, exaggeration of reflexes, drooling, difficulty moving or loss of muscle power
- Sore breast in both men and women
- Seizures or fits
- Long-lasting and painful erection of the penis
How To Manage Side Effects
Constipation
Try to eat more high-fiber foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, cereals and drink plenty of water. If this does not help, inform your doctor for receiving alternate management for constipation.
Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsiness. Avoid alcohol consumption as it aggravates drowsiness. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Dry Mouth
Sip water regularly and other sugar free liquids. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can make your mouth dry, use mouthwash that is used only for dry mouth. Limit your caffeine intake. Avoid smoking or using tobacco products. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Headache
Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Pregnancy
ContraindicatedNURODOL MD TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Taking this medicine in the last trimester of pregnancy may lead to symptoms like shaking, muscle stiffness, weakness, sleepiness, agitation, breathing problems and difficulty in feeding the new-born baby. Consult your doctor before taking NURODOL MD TABLET.
Breastfeeding

Driving and Using Machines

- Pheochromocytoma (tumour of the adrenal gland)
- Brain damage
- Anaemia (blood cell disorder), neutropenia (low white blood cell count) and thrombocytopenia (low platelet count)
- Drowsiness, slower breathing and weak pulse
- Decrease in alertness because of taking certain medications or drinking alcohol
- Central nervous system depression
Before taking NURODOL MD TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:
- Thyroid problems
- An enlarged prostate gland
- Parkinson’s disease, dementia
- Epilepsy or fits (seizures), depression
- Myasthenia gravis (weakening of muscle)
- Glaucoma
- Low levels of potassium, calcium and magnesium in the blood
- Loss of appetite
- Abnormally low weight
- Stroke and family history of blood clots
- A scheduled surgery which requires spinal anaesthesia
- To undergo blood test or urine test
- Encephalopathy
