Desogestrel + Estradiol combination tablet is used for oral contraception.

How does Desogestrel + Estradiol combination work?

In Desogestrel + Estradiol combination, Desogestrel belongs to the class of drugs called oral contraceptive drugs. The drug combination inhibits the release of hormones, such as luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which are necessary for maturation and release of ova. It may also alter sperm fertility and transport ova to the uterus.

Estradiol belongs to the class of drugs called steroid hormones. The drug acts by mimicking the action of oestrogen by binding to the oestrogen receptors.
