NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH contains Nitroglycerine that belongs to the class of medicines called vasodilators. It is used for the management of chest pain associated with angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease. Angina is a condition which causes discomfort and chest pain that keeps coming back because of reduced oxygen and blood supply to the heart. Symptoms include chest pain, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, tiredness etc.

Along with NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH, your doctor may advise you to make certain lifestyle changes such as quitting alcohol and smoking, eating a healthy diet, managing weight and improving your sleep pattern.

NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH is not recommended for use in patients having heart diseases, low blood pressure, low blood volume, anaemia, glaucoma, bleeding in the brain, increased pressure on the brain, acute angina attack or if you are taking medicines to manage erectile function (sildenafil) or increased pressure in the lungs (riociguat).

Before using NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH, inform your doctor if you have lung, liver or kidney disease, low levels of oxygen in the blood, low body temperature, malnourishment or insufficient flow of blood to the brain.

NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH should be used with caution in pregnant or breast-feeding women, consult your doctor for advice before using. NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH is not recommended for use in children and should be used with caution in elderly patients.

The common side effects of using NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH are nausea, vomiting and headache, reddening or itching of skin at the site of placement. Consult your doctor if the symptoms worsen or don't improve.

Do not use NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH immediately after showering or on wet, cut, irritated or wounded surfaces. How To Manage Side Effects

Headache:

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Take adequate rest and sleep. Try to be stress and tension free. Avoid drinking alcohol. Reduce screen time. Apply pain balm if needed. Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.

Dizziness:

Sit or lie down soon after you feel dizzy. Do not drive or operate any machines. Drink enough water. Consult a doctor if it is worsening.

Nausea:

Stick to simple meals while using this medicine. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Do not take any medication by yourself. Ask for your doctor’s advice if the nausea doesn’t improve or worsen.

Vomiting:

Alcohol

Kidney

Liver

Allergy

Lungs

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before using NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

• medicines used to manage erectile dysfunction (Ex. sildenafil, vardenafil)
• medicines used to manage migraine (Ex. ergotamine)
• medicines to manage high problems (Ex. propranolol, atenolol, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, enalapril)
• medicines used to manage depression or anxiety (Ex. amitriptyline, amoxapine, isocarboxazid)
• medicines used to reduce fluid build-up in the body (Ex. spironolactone, furosemide)
• medicines used to protect kidneys from chemotherapeutic agents (Ex. amifostine)
• medicine used to manage phenylketonuria (Ex. sapropterin)
• medicine used to relieve pain (Ex. aspirin)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else uses too much of NITRODERM TTS 5MG PATCH, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. The symptoms of overdosage are, fall in blood pressure making you feel dizzy, weak and light-headed on standing. Paleness, sweating, have a weak pulse, rapid heartbeats (tachycardia), flushed skin, headache, nausea, vomiting, methemoglobinemia (a blood disorder) may also occur.
