INTRODUCTION
NIDAL MD TABLET contains Nimesulide which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to treat inflammatory conditions including joint disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, post traumatic and post operative painful condition and fever. NIDAL MD TABLET is also used to treat acute pain in orthopaedic, ENT, dental and mild to moderate pain of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Your doctor might advise regular liver function tests during treatment with NIDAL MD TABLET.
NIDAL MD TABLET is usually advised as a second line of treatment for a short duration of time in order to relieve symptoms.
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended in case of active stomach or duodenal ulcers, alcoholism, drug addiction, cerebrovascular bleeding or bleeding disorders, severe clotting disorders, severe heart, kidney or liver impairment, fever and/or flu-like symptoms, a history of recurrent ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding.
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy and in breast feeding women.
NIDAL MD TABLET is not given to children and adolescents below 12 years of age. It should be used with caution in elderly patients.
The most common side effects of taking NIDAL MD TABLET are vomiting, diarrhoea or nausea and changes in the level of liver enzymes. Consult your doctor if above side effects does not improve.
USES OF NIDAL MD TABLET
It is used to treat inflammatory conditions including joint disorders such as:
- rheumatoid arthritis
- post traumatic
- post operative painful condition and
- fever
HOW NIDAL MD TABLET WORKS
NIDAL MD TABLET works by blocking the enzyme involved in the production of certain chemical substances during inflammation, which are responsible for causing pain, redness, swelling and fever in the body. Hence decreasing the fever, pain and swelling caused after injuries.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take NIDAL MD TABLET as advised by your physician. It can be taken with or without meals.
For Tablet, Capsule: Swallow NIDAL MD TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse NIDAL MD TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take NIDAL MD TABLET for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results.
SIDE EFFECTS OF NIDAL MD TABLET
COMMON
- diarrhoea
- nausea

- elevated liver enzymes
UNCOMMON
- skin itching, eruptions
- increased sweating
- constipation
- flatulence
- gastrointestinal bleeding
- ulcers and perforation in stomach, duodenum

RARE
- decreased red blood cells and low hemoglobin
- high level of disease-fighting white blood cells (eosinophils)
- allergic skin reactions
- increased blood potassium level
- anxiety, nervousness, and nightmares
- blurred vision
- increased heart rate, fluctuation in blood pressure and hot flushes
- Inflamed skin and redness
- tiredness, decreased muscle strength
- blood in urine and difficulty in urinating
- pain or burning sensation while urinating
Stop taking NIDAL MD TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- signs of allergic reaction like rashes, mucosal lesions (exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis)
- signs of liver injury (anorexia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, dark urine or abnormal liver function tests)
- gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration/perforation, stools with blood
- signs of fever like chills, shivering, feeling of uneasiness
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. If the symptoms do not improve, contact your doctor.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, like water, fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If the symptoms do not improve, contact your doctor.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended for use in the third trimester of pregnancy and women planning to have a baby because it may cause many malformations in neonates. If needed dose will be adjusted by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking.
BREASTFEEDING
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy, head spinning sensation or excessive sleepiness after taking NIDAL MD TABLET.
ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while taking NIDAL MD TABLET.
KIDNEY
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe impairment in kidney function. Consult your doctor before taking it.
LIVER
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe impaired liver function and liver failure. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take NIDAL MD TABLET if you are allergic to Nimesulide or any history of hypersensitivity reactions (Ex. bronchospasm, rhinitis, urticarial, nasal polyps) or any ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe heart failure. It should be used with caution in patients with impaired heart function, uncontrolled hypertension, established ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and/or cerebrovascular disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
OTHERS
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have drug addiction problem
- have cerebrovascular bleeding or other active bleeding or bleeding disorders
- have severe clotting disorders
- have active or history of gastric or duodenal ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding
- have signs of flu or fever
Before taking NIDAL MD TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, or Crohn's disease
Use in pediatrics:
NIDAL MD TABLET is not recommended for children and adolescents below 12 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Use in geriatrics:
NIDAL MD TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients as they are more susceptible to the adverse effects. Consult your doctor before taking it.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking NIDAL MD TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- other medicine used to reduce inflammation (Ex. methyprednisolone)
- medicine used to treat blood clots (Ex. warfarin)
- medicine used in treatment of arthritis (Ex. methotrexate)
- medicines used in treatment of mental disorders (Ex. lithium)
- diuretics (Ex. furosemide) to rid the body of salt and water
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much NIDAL MD TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are drowsiness, sluggishness, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort.
