    Introduction About NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES contains Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Analgesics and Antipyretics. It is used to manage pain and fever (high temperature) in children (from 3 months to 12 years of age) who find it difficult to take the medicine orally.                  

    Before administering NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES to your child, inform the child’s doctor if your child has liver or kidney problems or any allergies. Do not give your child medicines containing alcohol. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES is not recommended for use in elderly patients, pregnant and breastfeeding women as it is used only in children.

    The most common side effect of using NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES is redness or soreness in and around the back passage. Consult your child’s doctor if any of the side effects get worse.

    Uses Of NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES

    Manages pain and fever in children (from 3 months to 12 years of age), who finds it difficult to take the medicine orally

    How NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES Works

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES relieves pain by increasing the pain threshold by inhibiting certain enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) involved in the synthesis of chemicals responsible for inducing pain (prostaglandins). It reduces fever by directly acting on heat-regulating centers in the brain, resulting in vessel relaxation, sweating and loss of body heat.

    How to use NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES

    Administer NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES to your child as advised by the physician. It is for rectal use only. Your child’s bowel needs to be empty when you administer it. Wash your hands and peel the wrapping apart. Do not break the medicine before use. Smoothly push into the back passage of the child with the pointed end first. Slightly warm it between your hands beforehand to make it easier. Tell your child to keep still for a minute or two and then clean your hands.

    Your child’s doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for your child based on the child’s age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES

    Uncommon

    • redness or soreness in and around the back passage

    Rare

    • blood problems (bruising or bleeding more easily than usual, more susceptibility to infections, fever, ulcers in the mouth and throat)
    • liver problems (yellow skin or whites of the eyes)

    Stop administering NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES to your child and contact the doctor immediately if your child experiences any of the following side effects:

    • allergic reaction (signs include rash, trouble swallowing or breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat or tongue)

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it is used only in children. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Breastfeeding

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is used only in children. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Alcohol

    Do not give your child medicines containing alcohol. Consult the child’s doctor for advice before administering NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES to your child.

    Kidney

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES should be used with caution in children with kidney problems. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Liver

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES should be used with caution in children with liver problems. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Allergy

    Do not administer NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES to your child if they are allergic to Paracetamol, soya, peanuts or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    Before administering NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES to your child, inform the doctor if your child:

    • have sepsis (circulation of bacteria and their toxins in the blood leading to organ damage)
    • are malnourished

    Use in pediatrics:

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES can be used in children (from 3 months of age to 12 years of age). Your child’s doctor may adjust the dose depending upon the child’s age and body weight. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Use in geriatrics:

    NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES is not recommended for use in elderly patients as it is used only in children. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before administering NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES to your child, inform to child’s doctor if your child is taking any of the following medicines:

    • other medicines containing paracetamol
    • medicines used to manage nausea and vomiting (Ex. metoclopramide, domperidone)
    • cholestyramine (used to control blood lipid levels)
    • medicines used to manage fits (Ex. carbamazepine, phenytoin)
    • warfarin (used for managing blood clots)
    • medicines containing alcohol
    • medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. rifampicin, flucloxacillin)

    Overdosage:

    If you have administered more NEOMOL 170 ANAL SUPPOSITORIES to your child accidentally, consult the child’s doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital, even if the child feels well, as it can cause delayed serious liver damage.
