What is MUCYST 1gm Injection used for?

MUCYST 1gm Injection is also known as N-acetylcysteine (NAC) or N-acetyl-L-cysteine.

  • MUCYST 1gm Injection oral tablets, capsules and respiratory powder for inhalation are used
  • to treat chest infections like bronchitis, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis;
  • in anti-aging treatment;
  • to treat kidney failure (which occurs due to certain dyes used in X-ray procedure).
  • Intravenous MUCYST 1gm Injection (injectable) is used to treat
  • symptoms of chest pain (angina);
  • an overdose of Paracetamol.

  • MUCYST 1gm Injection is derived from N-acetyl cysteine, which is formed from the amino acid L-cysteine.

  • MUCYST 1gm Injection helps in the formation of glutathione, a powerful antioxidant normally found in the liver, and enhances non-toxic metabolism of Acetaminophen. This protects the liver cells from NAPQI (N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine) toxicity, which can lead to acute liver failure.
