Mucopain is a topical anaesthetic used to produce anaesthesia for all mucous membranes that are accessible, except for the eyes, and for short-term local relief of pain associated with oropharyngeal and dental problems.
It contains Benzocaine as an active ingredient which is used for short-term relief of local pain.
Benzocaine quickly goes under the painful area and stops the flow of pain sensation through nerves, by making the area numb and relieving from pain.
Always apply Mucopain as advised by your physician. Stop taking it and consult your doctor if sensitivity or irritation occurs.
Safety of this medicine is not established during pregnancy. Do not cover the affected area with cotton or anything else. It should not be used in infants.

Q: What if I accidentally swallow Mucopain?
A: It should not be swallowed because it is only intended for topical or oral administration. Consult your doctor at once if you accidentally swallow it.
Q: Can I use Mucopain if I am taking antibiotics?
A: Do not use Mucopain if you are taking any antibiotics called sulphonamides (Ex. co-trimoxazole), as benzocaine may prevent them from working properly. Inform your doctor if you are taking, have taken, or might take any other medicine, including prescription, over the counter or any herbal medicine.
