MUCOLITE TABLET contains Ambroxol, which belongs to a group of medicines called Respiratory system agents. It is used to loosen phlegm in case of productive cough accompanying lung and bronchial illness in affected individuals. Phlegm is a thickened mucus secreted by the glands of respiratory passages and lungs, which generally occurs due to illness/irritation in affected individuals.
MUCOLITE TABLET is not recommended for use if you are allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride. Before taking MUCOLITE TABLET, inform your doctor if you have a predilection for the development of peptic ulcers, intolerance to certain sugars, lung problems (such as bronchial motor activity disorder), kidney problems (such as an impaired renal function), and/or severe liver disease.
MUCOLITE TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women (especially during the first three months of pregnancy) and is also not recommended for breastfeeding women. It should be used with caution in children and adolescents (below 18 years). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine. The most common side effects of taking MUCOLITE TABLET are taste disturbance, numbness in the throat, nausea, and/or numbness in the mouth. Consult and inform your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
MUCOLITE TABLET works by facilitating the expectoration of mucus by breaking down acid mucopolysaccharide fibers (sugar molecules responsible for mucus production) and stimulates surfactant (an anti-glue agent) that prevents adhesion of mucus to the bronchial wall thus preventing its accumulation and providing clearance in the airway due to acute and chronic respiratory diseases in affected individuals.
Take MUCOLITE TABLET as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking MUCOLITE TABLET and contact immediately your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea and vomiting:
Try to take MUCOLITE TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Diarrhea:
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to treat diarrhea. Consult your doctor and inform them if the symptom gets worse.
Indigestion:
Try to have smaller and more frequent meals and drink slowly. Reduce your consumption of coffee, cola, tea, or alcohol and lose weight if you are obese. Try to avoid smoking and don’t have rich, fatty or spicy foods. Consult your doctor and inform them if the symptom does not improve.
Dry mouth:
Try to drink plenty of cold water, sip on unsweetened drinks, and use lip balm if your lips are dry. Brush your teeth twice a day and use mouthwash. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
