MOTIVYST 300MG contain canagliflozin which belongs to a group of medicine called blood-glucose lowering drugs. This medicine is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a condition where your body does not produce enough insulin, and or the insulin that produced by your body does not work. When your body make too much sugar it gets build up in the blood may also leads to high blood sugar. This can lead to serious medical problems. The main goal of treating diabetes is to lower your blood sugar to a normal level. High blood sugar can be lowered by diet and exercise, and by certain medicine when necessary.
MOTIVYST 300MG can be used by itself or along with other medicines you may be using to treat your type 2 diabetes such as metformin, insulin, DPP-4 inhibitor such as sitagliptin, saxagliptin, or linagliptin, sulphonyl urea such as glimepiride or glipizide or pioglitazone that lower blood sugar levels.
This medicine is strictly not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years. Check your blood sugar periodically as per the instruction of your doctor. Your doctor will monitor your diabetes with regular blood tests, including your blood sugar levels and your haemoglobin A1C. While taking this medicine, stay on diet prescribed to you and regular exercise. Take good care of your feet and check regularly. Adhere to doctor’s advice regarding foot care given.
Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, or pancreas problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.
MOTIVYST 300MG inhibits the sodium/glucose cotransporter (SGLT2) in the proximal convoluted tubule (PCT). This results in decreased sodium and glucose reabsorption in the kidney, resulting in increased urinary glucose excretion and low plasma glucose.
Always take MOTIVYST 300MG exactly as your doctor has told you. This medicine must be taken with or without food. It is best to take this medicine before the first meal of the day. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Constipation:
Take fibre rich foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
Nausea and vomiting:
Keep try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.
Stomach pain:
Keep try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly and smaller and frequent meals. Keeping a heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach may also help. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.
Headache:
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.
Dizziness:
Lie down by closing the eyes. Drink plenty of water and keep hydrated. Take plenty of sleep.
MOTIVYST 300MG is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
MOTIVYST 300MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
Do not drive or operate machinery while taking this medicine, since it may cause dizziness or light headedness.
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with MOTIVYST 300MG.
MOTIVYST 300MG not recommended in patients with active kidney diseases. Before taking, this medicine consult your doctor.
MOTIVYST 300MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Do not take MOTIVYST 300MG if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to canagliflozin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
