INTRODUCTION

METROHEX PLUS GEL is a combination of Chlorhexidine and Metronidazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antimicrobial agents. It is used to treat skin inflammation caused due to skin infections, rosacea, minor burns and scalds, sunburn, scratches or abrasions. It can also be used to treat and prevent skin infections.

Apply a thin layer of METROHEX PLUS GEL on the affected areas. Avoid contact of this medicine with your eyes, mouth, ears, nose or with open wounds. METROHEX PLUS GEL should be used on the face only if instructed by the physician. Avoid exposing the treated skin areas towards direct sun light or other light sources.

Before using METROHEX PLUS GEL inform your doctor if you have any blood problems or any upcoming surgery on your brain, spinal cord or ears. You must also inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as a precaution.

The most common side effects of using this medicine are skin dryness, redness, mild irritation, itching or burning sensation and metallic taste in mouth. Consult your doctor of any of these side effects worsens.

HOW METROHEX PLUS GEL WORKS

METROHEX PLUS GEL is an antiseptic agent with antibacterial properties. It kills the susceptible bacteria that causes inflammation and infection. When applied topically on the skin, it destroys the infection causing germs and prevents their further growth and multiplication which therefore reduces skin infections and inflammatory skin lesions.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply a thin layer of METROHEX PLUS GEL on the affected skin areas or as directed by the physician. It is for external use only. Wash your hands before and after application. Use this medicine on your face only if instructed by your doctor.

Avoid contact of this medicine with your eyes, mouth, ears, nose and with open wounds. Do not cover the application site with bandages, dressings or clothes unless your doctor tells you to do so.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not use METROHEX PLUS GEL for more than the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor.

SIDE EFFECTS OF METROHEX PLUS GEL

COMMON

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Application site reactions:

Avoid wearing tight fitting clothes. Do not rub or scratch the affected areas. Place an icepack on the affected areas if necessary. Avoid using any irritant soaps or cosmetics on your skin. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

BREASTFEEDING

ALCOHOL

Avoid consumption of alcohol while using METROHEX PLUS GEL.

ALLERGY

Do not use METROHEX PLUS GEL if you are allergic to Chlorhexidine or to Metronidazole.

OTHERS

METROHEX PLUS GEL is not recommended for use if you:

  • are scheduled for any surgery on your brain, spinal cord or middle ear

Use in Pediatrics:
