    Introduction About LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP contains Bromhexine, Dextromethorphan, Phenylephrine which belongs to the group of medicines called Mucolytics, Antitussives, Nasal decongestants respectively. It is used to relieve dry cough, blocked nose, sinus congestion caused by the common cold, hay fever, flu or other allergic conditions.

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients with severe lung disease, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, prostate problems, glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye). Consult your doctor before taking it.

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with liver, kidney disease, stomach ulcers. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP should be used with caution in children below 6 years of age and in elderly people. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    The most common side effects of using LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP are nausea, vomiting, constipation, bloating, diarrhea, indigestion, drowsiness, dizziness etc. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

    How LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP Works

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP contains bromhexine, dextromethorphan, phenylephrine. Bromhexine is a mucolytic agent which thins and breaks the phlegm, making it easier to cough out. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant which relieves cough by acting on the cough centre in the brain. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant works by reducing swelling of the blood vessel in nasal passages, thus makes it easier to breathe. Thus, combination of bromhexine, dextromethorphan, phenylephrine helps to relieve the symptoms like dry cough, blocked nose and sinus congestion.

    How to use LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP

    Take LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP

    Common

    • nausea, vomiting, constipation, bloating, diarrhea, indigestion

    • sedation, confusion, nervousness

    Rare

    Stop taking LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • skin rash with lesions on the mouth, throat, nose, eyes, genitals
    • allergic reactions such as itching, rashes, hives, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation

    Take fiber rich foods in your diet such as fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain cereals and drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly and stay active. Contact your doctor if constipation persist.

    Diarrhea

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if your diarrhoea did not improve.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Contact your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.

    Headache

    Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or ORS (Oral Rehydrating Solution) and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Contact your doctor if your headache did not improve.

    Indigestion

    Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. If the indigestion does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.

    Skin rash Or Itching

    Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if your rashes worsen.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Kidney

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Liver

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP if you are allergic to bromhexine, dextromethorphan, phenylephrine or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    Contraindicated

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients with severe lung disease. Inform your doctor if you have chronic bronchitis (inflammation of airways of lungs), emphysema (a lung disorder that causes shortness of breath) or asthma or have had a cough for a few weeks or a cough with a lot of mucus (phlegm).

    Heart Disease

    Contraindicated

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients having heart diseases, high blood pressure (particularly due to a tumour near the kidney). Consult your doctor before taking LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP.

    Use In Pediatrics

    Use with Caution

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP should be used with caution in children below 6 years of age. Consult doctor before taking LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP.

    Use In Geriatrics

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP should be used with caution in elderly people. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Others

    LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP is not recommended for use if you:

    • have diabetes
    • have prostate problems
    • have glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
    • have overactive thyroid gland

    Before taking LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP inform your doctor if you:

    • or your child is prone to developing certain allergic reactions
    • have stomach ulcers
    • have intolerance to certain sugars
    • have ever been addicted to opioids, alcohol, prescription medicines or illegal drugs
    • have history of withdrawal symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, shaking or sweating, when you have stopped taking alcohol or drugs
    • have blood circulation problems (Ex. Raynaud’s Phenomenon, which makes the toes and fingers numb and pale)

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • medicines used to manage infections (Ex. ampicillin, amoxicillin, erythromycin or oxytetracycline)
    • medicines used to manage depression and anxiety (Ex. bupropion, selegiline, isocarboxazid, fluoxetine, amitriptyline, paroxetine and sertraline)
    • antipsychotics (medicines used to manage mood disorders) (Ex. haloperidol, thioridazine, perphenazine)
    • medicines used to manage heart failure, chest pain, irregular heart beat (Ex. digoxin, glyceryl trinitrate, atenolol, amiodarone, propafenone, quinidine and flecainide)
    • cinacalcet (used to manage secondary hyperparathyroidism)
    • terbinafine (used to manage fungal infections)
    • opioid analgesics (medicines used to relieve pain) (Ex. codeine, tramadol, morphine, methadone)
    • antihistamines (used to manage allergic reactions) (Ex. clemastine)
    • antiepileptics (medicines used to manage fits) (Ex. lamotrigine)
    • nasal decongestants (used to manage nasal congestion) (Ex. pseudoephedrine)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took too more of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdosage includes nausea and vomiting, involuntary muscle contractions, agitation, confusion, somnolence, disturbances in consciousness, involuntary and rapid eye movements, rapid heart beating, coordination disorders, psychosis with visual hallucinations and hyperexcitability, fits, clumsiness, dizziness, speech problems, lack of energy, tremor or constricted or dilated pupils. Other symptoms in case of massive overdose may include coma, severe breathing problems.

Withdrawal symptoms can include restlessness, difficulty sleeping, irritability, agitation, anxiety, feeling your heartbeat (palpitations), nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, shaking, shivering or sweating.     Q: What happens if you miss a dose of LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP?

    A: If you forget to take a dose of LEEKUF JUNIOR SYRUP, take the next dose when needed provided that the last dose was taken at least 4 hours ago. Do not take a double dose.
