Introduction About I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS
I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS contains Diclofenac which belongs to the group of medicines called Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to control pain and inflammation before eye surgery, to help keep the pupil open during surgery, or post-eye surgery or injury.
I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS is also used to reduce the symptoms associated with seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (hay fever) such as red, runny or itchy eyes.
Before using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have any allergies, bleeding disorders, eye problems, or if you wear contact lenses. I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnancy (especially in last 3 months). It should be used with caution in breastfeeding women.
I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in children (below 18 years of age). The most common side effects of using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS are eye pain, irritation, itching, etc. Call your doctor if any of the symptoms get worse.
Uses Of I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS
It is used to:
- control pain and inflammation before eye surgery, to help keep the pupil open during surgery, or post-eye surgery or injury
- reduce the symptoms associated with seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (red, runny or itchy eyes)
How I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS Works
I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS relieves pain and inflammation by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins (chemicals responsible for inducing pain and inflammation).
How to use I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS
Use I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before use. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS and do not wear for at least 5 minutes if they are hard lenses and 15 minutes if they are soft lenses. Your doctor will decide a proper dose and duration for you depending upon severity of the disease.
Side Effects Of I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS
Common
- eye pain, irritation, itching
- punctate keratitis (eye disorder caused by death of small groups of cells on the corneal surface)
- conjunctival hyperemia (a conjunctival reaction that appears as dilated and red conjunctival vessels)
Uncommon
- keratitis, increased eye pressure
- corneal swelling or deposits
- conjunctival swelling or follicles
- eye discomfort, hyperemia (excess blood vessels)
- eye discharge
- eyelid margin crusting or irritation
- increased tearing
- impaired healing
Rare
Stop using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reactions in your eyes (red, itchy and swollen eyes and eyelids)
- other general allergic reaction (rash, redness, itching, cough and runny or stuffy nose)
- corneal epithelial breakdown (eye pain, blurred vision, tearing, photophobia, particularly upon awakening)
How To Manage Side Effects
Eye Pain:
Rest your eyes by closing or sleeping. Avoid bright lightings, reading, watching television, and working on the computer. Keep your eyes closed and gently massage them for few seconds to relieve the muscles. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Eye irritation or itching:
Wash your eyes with plain cold water. Place an ice pack on your eye to soothe the irritation. Avoid straining your eyes by keeping away from mobile phones, laptops, or television. Wear protective sunglasses while going outdoors. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Warning & Precautions
Pregnancy
I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS is not recommended for use during pregnancy (especially in the last three months). Consult your doctor before using it.
Breastfeeding
I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless the expected benefits outweigh the possible risks. Consult your doctor before using it.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience blurred eyesight or other visual disturbances after using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS.
Allergy
Do not use I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Diclofenac, aspirin, ibuprofen, other NSAIDs, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
Before using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you:
- have a bleeding disorder
- have an eye infection
- wear soft contact lenses
Use in Paediatrics:
I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in children (under 18 years of age). Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
Use in Geriatrics:
There is no indication that I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS dose needs to be modified for the elderly, however, consult your doctor before using it.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to manage inflammatory conditions (Ex. hydrocortisone, betamethasone)
- medicines used to manage blood clots (Ex. heparin, warfarin)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

What if I forget to instil a dose of I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS?
If you forget to instil a dose of I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS, do it as soon as you remember. However, omit that dose if it's almost time for the next one. Do not use I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS two times to make up for the missed dose.
What if I accidentally swallow I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS?
If you or anyone else accidentally swallow I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS, see your doctor immediately or go to your nearest hospital. Take your medicine with you for the doctor to know what you’ve ingested.
Can I drive a car after using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS?
Some people may have problems with their eyes such as blurred vision, while they are being managed with I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS. If you are affected, you should not drive a car or use machinery.
Can I use other eye medicines while using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS?
Before using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you are using any other medicine, including prescription, over the counter or any herbal medicine, as these might lead to serious side effects by interacting with each other. If you are using more than one sort of eye drops, give five minute gap between applications.
Can I wear contact lenses while using I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS?
Some ingredients of I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS may be absorbed by soft contact lenses and may change the colour of those lenses. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the medicine and do not wear for at least 5 minutes if they are hard lenses and 15 minutes if they are soft lenses.
Can I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS be used in pregnancy?
I GESIC 0.10% EYE DROPS should not be used during the third trimester (last 3 months) of pregnancy as it can harm the baby. If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning for a baby, consult your doctor before using it.
