    Introduction About HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION

    HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION contains Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose which belongs to the group of medicines called Ophthalmic demulcent. It is used as a surgical aid in ophthalmic procedures involving anterior segment of the eye such as cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation, keratoplasty or filtering operations for glaucoma.

    It is also used to manage lenticular opacity pre-operatively and used to manage posterior capsular opacity (PCO) (in patients with post cataract operation).

    Do not receive HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION if you are allergic to hydroxypropyl methylcellulose/hypromellose. Before receiving this medicine, inform your doctor if you have liver impairment or renal failure.

    HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It should be used with caution in children and elderly patients. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

    The common side effects associated with the use of HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION are blurred vision, eye pain and eye irritation. Consult your doctor if any of the side effect worsens.  

    Uses Of HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION

    • Used as a surgical aid in ophthalmic procedures involving anterior segment of the eye such as cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation, keratoplasty or filtering operations for glaucoma
    • Prevents lenticular opacity pre-operatively
    • Prevents posterior capsular opacity (PCO) (in patients with post cataract operation)

    HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION helps in aiding ophthalmic procedures where hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is a hydrophilic polymer that works by crosslinking on the eye surface, thereby increasing the tear clearance time and promoting the eye lubrication.

    How to use HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION

    HYPROSOL 2% INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the anterior chamber of the eye. It is for ophthalmic use only. Enough of this medicine is slowly introduced into the anterior chamber using a cannula. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Eye irritation Or Itching

    Clean the eyelids daily. Give rest to your eyes while using a computer screen by taking breaks. Ensure the computer screen is placed just below eye level. Try using a humidifier in the room to manage the air getting dry. Avoid spending much time in smoky, dusty, dry, air conditioned or artificially heated places.
